There is still 2 days before the end of registration period and some names are clearly still missing. So I could see him not being registered at all (yet). However, it's odd that he is only half registered. Anybody have any info on this? |

Probably asked AC to allow him to only run one event at Nationals. Or he is only planning on running the 5000m at the Olympics. |

He got a bye of sorts in the 10,000, but if two more guys did get the "A" (one other, that kid who went to U of Wisconsin, has it), then he'd be left out of the 10,000. He's taking that chance. |

This is correct. If he makes it in the 5000, he can still run it at the Olympics, as only Ahmed is left with standard. |

You've never run the 10,000m on the track in Calgary - Stanford North it is not. If I were him, I'd be looking for an exemption too - there'd be no point "racing" a track 10km at that venue. |
| why not that venue |

What's wrong with the track in Calgary? |

Altitude. Not that it would bother Levins, but... Good move on his part Odds of 2 more Canadians making the A by end of month is 0.000000000000001%. |

You watch Levins interviews...even just after a race. He looks , always so in control. His eyes are so damn clear, his complexion is never flushed. His focus on the camera and interviewer is so precise. He looks always so fresh. I don't know something about that kid is special. He is a damn good speaker. His body language is so open and honest. This young guy is for real. I think he is gonna be somebody someday. He already is...I'm just saying beyond his amazing running. |

What's wrong with that track? |

well for one thing it's at 3500 feet above sea level, which is just past the point where altitude starts to affect you (according to Jack Daniels at least) http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0NHF/is_3_21/ai_104209598/ Definitely would be noticeable in a 10k. I dunno about wind and track condition and so on. |

I'm so excited about that race; I live in Edmonton and some friends and I are planning to get out of work early that day and drive down to see Cam Levins....CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! |

He's preparing to go out at 26:40 pace during the Olympics: "At this point in your career, if there's a 10,000 that goes at 26:40 pace, do you hang back just hoping you can perhaps run 27 flat, or do you try and stick with those guys? CL: [Pauses]. I don't know. I don't feel like it's really my style to let up and race for anything other than the top spot or with that front group. I guess it probably would be smarter of me to hang back and go after 27-flat or 27-low pace. But I feel like I'm a pretty aggressive runner. I just want to go out and compete against anyone, and like to feel that I can. Yeah, I probably would go with them, for better or worse. I would regret not doing it." http://news.runnersworld.com/2012/06/17/brief-chat-cameron-levins-canadas-finest/ |

Oh God know I was not saying anything like an act. Thats what is so amazing. A natural charisma, great speaker, compassion seems another part of him. With that you think of the work, consistent effort, planning and pain. He has so many obvious character strengths. His family must be amazed and very proud. |

What's wrong with the track in Calgary?
It's a great track, just resurfaced last year. However it's at altitude and can be windy. If the weather is good and wind is blowing right it's great for sprints, but not distance. |

yes!!! great post.
I third that, and I know him only through YouTube. He's as enjoyable to listen to as he is to watch on the track. This fan's hoping he can give the East Africans a good run in London. |
