Considering a couple of different colleges to run at in the PAC 12 - which one is the best and any pros or cons.

1. Arizona
2. Arizona State
3. UCLA
4. USC

My PRs are 4:15 in the 1600m, 49.8 in the 400m, and 1:52 in the 800m.

Any advice, Letsrun? My high school coach thinks that I would be more of a miler type in college.

if i were you i would choose ucla (maybe arizona). arizona seems too long distance oriented for you but you although you could do well there. distance runners die at asu and if you want to succeed don't go there. if you want to party, by all means hit up asu. usc i think is too middle distance oriented if you want to be a mile. ucla has great mid d/distance runners like corey primm, lane werley, and other. you would do well at ucla as a miler. plus you get to see shabazz muhammed play basketball there so that's a plus.

Does UCLA have a history or milers? It seems like most of their success came in the 800m. Arizona from what I see is more of a distance school but they have always been strong in almost every event.

Arizona

Look at the results of the athletes that are there and doing the same events was you. Lawi, their 4x4 team, and they have a pretty good 800m guy.

Also, coach Li coaches Bernard Lagat so that would be a cool training partner.

And you're 800m time is better than you 1600m time, by a lot.

Go to Arizona. GREAT coach, good team, you'll definitely become a stronger runner there. Strength builds speed. And your training partners would be off the wall good.

Yep. He is also too slow to be much of a college 800m guy.

Pick your school based on important things like which has the major you want. Or has the hotter chicks.

Go to arizona if you want to be average. Coach Li is EASILY the most overrated coach in the country. Unless you are directly off the plane from africa, your chances of being decent at arizona are slim to none. Usc is another dead end. Ucla, asu are both good options.

Has anyone done well there aside from Corey? I mean you look back far enough and everyone seems to get burnt out/injured there.

I think that Li is probably a good coach, he just doesn't aggressively recruit as much as other coaches. He likes to coach the Africans because they always perform well. He seems to have a knack for spotting inherent and undiscovered talent from what I see.

If I were you, I would go to UCLA. whether or not your gonna be a miler or stay as a 800m runner, Johnny Gray does a good job with mid distance guys.

And also never go to USC. They suck at distance.

Education?
UCLA if you won't flunk out. you've got 12 years of running left (at most). UCLA degree lasts you forever.
