I bet he never runs faster than he did at 3:35.59... We'll see |
| off the record comments rock |

In an off camera interview Bigfoot said he can out run Bolt at 150m and is setting up a race in Torano's SkyDome to prove it. |

Why? He's 21 and just had a big breakthrough. And there was nothing special about the race. |

How many guys have a great one off race and never touch that again? How much faster has Dorian Ulrey run since his breakthrough race of 3:35 as a 21 year old? The number of guys that run 3:34-3:36 and never get faster is pretty long. The list of guys that break 3:33 is pretty short. Maybe Merber has broken through to the next level and will be a consistant 3:37 guy. It is just as likely he goes back to being a 3:40 runner.

it's the great performances that come out of nowhere that can be a bit detrimental to an athletes progression. he may have had the race of his life. it felt easy. does that mean he can go faster? absolutely not. now he expects that if he races harder against faster competition he will get under 3:30? i doubt this. hopefully, i'm proven wrong, but i hope this guy doesn't go putting unnecessary expectations on himself. |

"In an off camera interview" c'mon guys the OP just made this up. don't actually attribute this on merber. i wouldn;t be surprised if he dreamed about it when he went to bed that night. who doesn't think those wild thoughts after a huge pr. still i doubt he would have said it to anyone and i doubt he will make unreasonable goals |

Two observations: 1. Like the guy above said, OP made it up. 2. There's is way too much of the "I can run this "he can run this" "what do you think I can run based off this" kind of talk. Someone might have the physical ability to run a certain time but that means absolutely nothing until it is actually done. And to add to that, it doesn't mean enough to be discussed in public until it is actually done in a race. There is no need to go and tell everyone what you think you're going to run in a race based on the great workouts you've been doing. |
| O really? |

So Bekele and Bolt shouldn't announce their next record attempts? |

Bolt would announce a record attempt for money. Bekele would do it so he could get adequate pacing. 99% of runners will never run into these issues. |
