Probably because the life led by our primitive ancestors would wear down the fingernails a lot more than it would the toenails. |

my experiment of n=1 tells me that the toe nails thing is mostly due to pressure from shoes. I had a foot injury in 2009 and couldnt run for a few weeks and had to wear sandals at all times (instead of closed toed shoes) and i found that my toe nails grew significantly faster. it also seems that whenever im not running for a few weeks at a time, they grow faster as well. |
