Loxom had anemia early in the spring which accounts for his rather pedestrian start to the outdoor season. It now looks like he's good to go. |

Meet records for the Big Ten Men in the 800, Steeple and 5000. There was no screwing around in any of the distance events this year. |

How about 13:64/12.71 hurdle races, 45.22 (and 45.42)/51.02 400s, 3:41.21 1500 (how slow with the 1500 be at Big Tens?), 28:50 without the top two guys on a warm/windy evening. The depth of the meet was unbelievable. The guy from Penn State who had been 4th before improved his deca by ~250 points and finished .... 10th, while the top three were within a few points of the "A" standard. 8:37 is a pretty good steeple time and is fifth on the NCAA list -- it got 5th place in the meet! 26+ LJ, 68-05 SP, Strong discus marks under calm (i.e., short) conditions. It was the best non-national/international meet I have ever seen with the combination of competitive marks and meet competition (decided in the 4x400s). |
