Jordan Chipangama of NAU also ran the 1500, 800, and 5000 in the same day. He won the 1500 and got second in the other two at the Big Sky champs. I imagine there are many outsdanding distance runners around the country who did similar things so, although it is admirable, it is not that uncommon. |

and what were his times? |

Chipangama - 1500 went out REALLY slow, something like 2:09 at the 800, then it got rolling. He took over at 1400 for a pretty controlled win. Don't remember the time but maybe 3:53 ish. 1:51 in the half for 2nd. Grant Grosvenor was NOT going to be passed. Took the lead from King in the 5000 with about 600 to go, but a team-mate who was fresh just killed the last 800 to come from nowhere and steam past with 100 to go. 2nd in about 14:45 or so (very hot and sunny). 26 points in a couple hours on a hot day... very impressive. |

For the mileage he logs, it's incredible how much top end speed he has! Running 1:51 for 800m is no joke. Granted that 10,000 and 5,000 were somewhat slow compared to his recent success but damn if he doesn't have strength AND wheels! |

None of those performances are noteworthy except the 800m. And that's only slightly noteworthy. He pretty much just ran an easy run pace, a tempo pace, a mile at 5k pace, and a cruising 800m, then a decent 800m race. Let's save the sensational for the actually sensational. |

thats not quite how these work. Usually the 15, 5, and 10 aren't even paced if they are slow. They come down to a kick thats a lot faster than those paces. |

Webb ran 3.38 and 13.49 with a half recovery. Levins should have been able to run sub-29, sub-13.45, sub-3.45 and sub-1.50, and all in the same day and at 14,000'!! What's wrong with him!! |

Wow, he might even make it to the semi final of the 5k at the olympics. |

I didnt say that. All I said was his performance wasn't that impressive. |

he ran to for the points. He ran to win conference titles. Sensational runs for Levins. |

Why are people excited about this? Quadrupling at a BS conference meet? What a monumentally stupid decision for someone looking to run in the Olympics. The poor guy is going to be fried or injured before then. |

It's going to be fun to bump this one when he makes the finals in London. |

Normally I would agree with a sentiment like this but he didn't have to go much faster than tempo pace except the 1500 and 800. Burning out is when you go to the well often, which he did not have to do. And it was good practice for heats which he will have to run at the olympics should he choose to run the 5k. Also good practice if he decides to run the 10 and the 5, because then he has 3 races in a week span and they will be a lot faster than 31 minute 10ks and 1445 5ks. Basically he did some tempo runs, closing fast. Then some under distance racing on top of that. I don't think this in particular will fry him. |

It's not impressive. Tempo pace, then a 200m sprint. Is that impressive to you? I'm not saying his performance was bad or that he should have run a particular time. I'm just saying that nothing really stands out about this. Well, maybe except that his conference is not as strong as others. |
