Sure. The first time I broke 10 was 1 1/2 hours after breaking 4:40 for the first time in the 1600, ran 4:39 in the 1600 and came back with 9:56 in the 3200. |

Yes you can, really focus on running 75 on lap 5 and 6, everything else will take care of itself. |

My friend just broke ten and his fastest mile was a 4:47. that being said he only ran it once as a time trial, but he went 9.58 5 flat mile to a 4.58 ending in 68 seconds. |

Oddly enough, the McMillian calculator says as 4:41 (MILE) equals a 9:59.6 (2 MILES), so taking 9 meters away from each, I'd say you have a shot. Calculators like that are ALWAYS right on the money. |

This. This is the correct advice. |

My endurance sucked in HS. I ran 4:25 / 10:07 indoors, then 9:54 outdoors. |

You sure can. High school PR's: 1600 - 4:40 and 3200 - 9:43 |
| I would say so |

My HS prs were 4:42 and 10:00. In college I ran 3ks easily under 10:00 3200m pace without ever technically going under 4:40 for 1600m my entire career. Never really tried though, I'd finish 1600m repeat workouts with a 4:40-4:45 after 3-5 repeats. I'd say it mostly depends on your training and what type of runner are you. If have a good aerobic base and tend to do better in longer races it's certainly possible for you to go sub 10 with a 4:41 1600m. I remember the first year I started running the 3200m in HS I ran a 10:17 in one meet despite not breaking 5:00 for the 1600m the entire season. What kind of mileage do you do? Did you run xc? If so how did you do? |

I did run xc and my PR was 16:45. During the season we run about 40-45 miles a week. I am more of a long distance runner than say 800 runner. Thanks for the input! |

Then I would say you are certainly capable. Like others said, open the first half with 75s to a 5:00. You have enough mileage and a decent enough 5k to maintain that pace for 6 laps and then drop below it the last 1-2 laps. Your times are very similar to mine. I ran 16:37 in xc and was at 40-50 miles per week. I had the misfortune of going for a sub 10 in a meet where no one else went under 10:30 and ran 10:00. Hopefully you can get into a race with a few runners that can pull you along. Good luck!! |

Yeah it's a sub district meet and there's a guy with a 9:58.. So I'm planning on tagging on him. |

Depends on what kind of runner you are and your training. I came close in High School and also only ran a 4:48. I was slow. I had no sprint speed at all but a lot of endurance. I was way better at the 5000. |
