whatever he's doing is working. He does have the world record. I think that may be a base period though, not just recovery.

The fact that you are calling the WR holder stupid shows that your knowledge level is well exceeded by your ego.

You might consider listening to him and figuring out what he and his coach know (probably a lot) that you don't.

Not necessarily.. In the Tanser books it is mentioned that many of the Kenyans take a few months off after the season. Don't have them with me, anyone want to elaborate on this?

yeah, there's difference between 'off' and completely off. there's no way he would take 4 months completely off.

A 2:26 guy calling a 2:03 guy stupid over training is pretty funny.

No, it is very funny. And by funny I don't mean haha funny, I mean sad and ignorant.

This is a guy (good as he is) who made a stupid assumption that he was going to be on the team, and so what he did in April didn't really matter, so running in London was going to be a Tempo run - didn't work out that way and he is NOT on the team.

Yeah that's really sad.

Now he'll have to run some big money marathon instead and maybe break the WR again.

I think unfortunely Makau was given a birth last year for the London Olympics, also Abel Kirui was pre selected. Then the likes of Geoffrey Mutai & Wilson Kipsang had there sensational runs and Athletics Kenyan had to re-think, and thus change the criteria. In my opinion if Makau was just doing a temp run in the London Marathon then he would of run abit further than 20k. Also he has raced very little this year finishing second in a small Spanish half-marathon in 62:43, hardly the best of shape for a guy who is a consistant 58-59 minute half marathon runner. I think he's having a troubled season, and probably come good in Berlin or which ever marathon he decides to run later on this year.
