2012 USATF Oxy High Performance Meet Preliminary Entries (subject to change and drops/additions) http://www.letsrun.com/2012/2012oxy.pdf link edited It didn't paste too nicely so I took a screenshot: Image: http://i.imgur.com/kGp7N.png There's a rake of other sub 3:40 guys entered too. (Including Rupp!) Could this be the race where Webb drops a bomb? He's working his way down towards that A standard. |

I doubt he'll do anything big here. That being said, I wouldn't surprised to see him run 3:36 mid with the winners closer to 3:34 high. He just doesn't have the finishing kick honed right now. |

Sounds about right my man.... |

WEBB IS BACK BABY!!! |

Looks like a good field. Who's going to win? I'll take Wheating in an upset. |

I don't really get why people are still talking up Webb. He's been washed up for years now, and even at his best showed that he was talented but inconsistent and never stepped it up when he needed to. Looking at his performances through the years, even for one who doesn't presume to be anywhere close to that ability level, I think it's evident that he probably never figured out how to train all that effectively. Also, coming from northern virginia and having listened to him on several occasions in speeches and interviews, he frankly doesn't come across as the brightest individual. I know that's somewhat of a harsh, unwarranted low blow, but I do think that it speaks to his ability to train and race intelligently. He has too much machismo and not enough patience. |

well, for one, there aren't many native born 3:46 milers trotting around. |

Webb has accomplished more than u will in a lifetime brah. Stop hating on someone with talent, brah brah. Seriously, it makes you look bitter brah.

If he is going for it he needs to run 3;35.5 |

I wouldn't get my hopes up too much about the time. If you remember last year, this was the last chance for a lot of Americans to get the olympic A standard, and they let the pace go slow through 1100. I'll be judging Webb off his place performance most here. That said. Can Webb run 3:38 with a 2:45 at the bell? |

Bguyj - that is a lame comeback. Why is it that when fans discuss other sports, personal accomplishments don't come into play? I think Donovan Mcnabb is washed up. If I posted that on espn, not one person would bring up my personal football record. |

He may run 3:38 or faster, but no way can he close in 53. |

umm, brah brah, its because running is more accessible than playing football, and the barrier to entry is a lot smaller. u will never accomplish half of what webb does. u really need to wakeup and see the big picture, brah brah |

I think Vigs is putting all his eggs in one basket and is pointing to the June USOTs. No, this won't be the big one; I say 3:36, which would actually be pretty good considering where his speed is at right now. |

At first I thought he was toast.... But with as many races as he is doing I'm starting to think they know what they are doing. 3:38 and 13:49 was a strong double that close. Then this 1:51.... Rather weak? To me that says they have barely touched the hard speed yet. It's up in the air at this point but nothing would shock me. I have to say I definitely admire him just jumping in these races and getting it done, regardless of the bad performances.... Being on top and trying to make a come back takes balls you have to be mentally strong. Much what we have seen from mottram of last 2 years.... Started out awful, now he's back in 13:11 shape.... Wouldn't be shocked to see him cracking 13 again this summer at 31! Props to them both.... Definitely hard making a comeback with this type of crowd. |

Like others have said, 3:36 would be good. Anything faster would be great. People talk about Webb because he has the talent to medal in the OG 1500m, even WIN the 1500m. It is unlikely he will ever replicate his fitness of 2007, but if does or comes close to, he could do very well at the Olympic Games. No other US distance runner (other than Lagat) has proven they are capable of running as well as Webb. They may be more consistent, a better bet for a good performance, but none have truly dazzled the way Webb has, even if it has been half a decade since he's done it. |

Does Ciaran have a qualifier yet? Any word on his calf injury? I highly doubt that Salazar is bringing his boys to "let the pace lag". I'm sure they'll have a pacer through 800m, if not 1000m. Look for farah in about 3.34, baddely/torrence at 3.35, wheating/o'lionard at 3.36, and Webb/rupp around 3.38. |

Saw a tweet from O'lionard the other day saying he did his first long run in a while. So I'm guessing he's not gonna be racing. He does have the A standard from last year though. |
