Who is the favorite to win the team title? Nutty thinks Neb has the edge, but I think it will come down to IU and Wisco. Neb is absolutely loaded in the field events, but only has a little bit in the sprints on the track. IU has a stud sprinter in addition to their distance guys and some nice field events. Wisco is loaded from 800 up on the track. It will be interesting to see what they do with Cato. I can't see him doubling in another event besides the decathlon. I think he could score more than 10 in his three best events if he's entered in those only. It's said seemingly every Big 10 meet that the distance crew will score 60+ points, but this time they really need it if they want to have a chance. They also need to squeeze out some unexpected points in the 200/400. OSU is another team that could sneak up there. After that it's a race for 5th. |

I think the Big Ten race at the top will be extremely competitive between Wisconsin and Nebraska. Minnesota Indiana and Ohio state can all cause problems if they have great meets. Here is my "unscientific" evaluations. Wisconsin Nebraska Minnesota Indiana Ohio State Iowa Penn state Illinois Michigan State Michigan Purdue This is assuming that Wisconsin utilizes Cato in more than just the decathlon. Should prove to be a very competitive meet at the top. |
