What a shame. Great meet while it lasted. |

I think the Adidas Dream Mile has squeezed out the other post season mile races like the MDG. They really pioneered the annual post-season sub-4 attempt and then Adidas picked up on the idea and MDG couldn't compete financially. Generally, meets like Adidas and the Brooks indoor meet have professionalized high school running. In the recent past MDG could extend a little travel money to land a big name for the race but now all the top kids are accustomed to a complete travel package plus gear. I applaud Scott Bush for putting together a great meet and hate to see it go. More fans around Chicago should have attended. And anyone reading this should go support a meet in your area. |

I nt with one of my kids in 2010. Not as many in the stands as you'd expect to see. Really enjoyed the meet, though. |

The meet will have new management and will be reincarnated as the Midwest Distance Classic. It's alive, don't worry. |

The meet will not have new management. The meet is over, done, retired. There is an entity that has stolen a version of the name and says that it will continue. They are basically taking the name and event structure and hoping it will be the same. Seeing that the meet is less than a month away and it takes months to recruit and get the event going, it is not going to happen. It will just be a local, south suburban and public school meet with mid level talent. |
