I think Rupp could take Bekele in the 5K if he runs superb and makes a strong move from 1000 out. He absolutely cannot wait until the last 400. He will have to be on his game, but I think his chances are decent to good. |

Well, sure he could. Everybody knows that the East Africans don't want to hurt from 1000 out. |

If there is anyone who can hang with Rupp from 1000 or more out, it's Bekele? |

Rupp would have to close the last 800 in 1:50 or better to beat Bekele. |

Sure. Berkeley closed with a 4:01 in 10,000 and you think Rupp has a chance? Going from a 1,000 out is not going to do it. |

I saw that 10000! Unbelievable finish:) |

He has to go for it 0m from the start 12-50 pace for as long as possible with 55-56 last lap. I see no other choice to BEAT Bekele. But Rupp is improving EVERY season most Africans burn out..... |

??? Their is a huge difference b/t running a rabbited race and a tactical championship race, he would absolutely get torched by african runners. |

Agreed. Rupp is not running away from Bekele, even if he's the best hope for America. |

1/10 Honestly you deserved a 0/10. The fact that anyone took your post seriously is unbelievable but I have to give you credit for recognizing that there are folks on here who know so little about the sport that they didn't just laugh. Rupp v. Bekele - LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL |
| Ffff |

Or even better, Bekele ran the last 2k of the 2008 5k in 4:55 (Rupp's mile pr plus another sub 60 lap plus 7.5 laps prior). |

RUPP 'S good he will have the US marathon record Al Sal plans on it think of the guy ground up as Rupp developed Ritz Head band Kid Josh McDougle Solinsky Webb a bust German doesn't pan out Hall never wins, waving at chicks, "having fun" and being an air head, folded at Olympics Chis Derrick may pan out |

I think Rupp last year was easily intimidated in the last lap. He has a kick but he won't use it. |

He didn't "fold", people had unrealistic expectations for him and the race went completely opposite of what everyone would have expected. |
| Maybe just a little |

if Rupp has a time machine he could travel into the future and race Bekele when he turns 40. maybe then, it would be a competitive race |

I just want to say that no way a healthy, fit Bekele gets beat by Rupp, He won't get beat by anyone from anywhere when healthy and fit. The thing is though, is that coming off his injury, we don't know if he is in GOAT form. He might not be a medal contender this year. He's looking pretty good, but we haven't gotten to see what kind form he is in yet. That's part of why the PRE meet is going to be fun to watch. Will Bekele own everyone like in the past? Or will we see that he still has some fitness to gain back in order to win gold? |
