For the past couple years, I've been doing most of my training in Brooks Adrenaline GTS, which have worked pretty well for me. I'm quite flat-footed and somewhat injury prone, so the Adrenalines have been a good and supportive but not incredibly heavy shoe for me. However, I could use a change, and would really appreciate some recommendations. One other consideration that's pushing me to look for new shoes: I've been struggling with some tendonitis and neuritis near my extensor tendon (on the top/inside of the foot, down to the big toe), that seems to bug me a lot more when I'm wearing the Brooks Adrenaline than when I wear my flats (Nike LunaRacer +2s). So, a shoe that not only has similar support to the Adrenalines but also a light upper similar to the LunaRacers would be really fantastic. Thanks in advance for the help. |

One thing that causes people to get the tendonitis/neuritis you are describing is because their shoes are tied too tight. Lacing patterns could also be contributory. If you are comfortable with your racing flats and can train in them, or an intermediate, the Brooks Pure Flow or Pure Cadence shoes are nice and light and have a 4mm drop. They aren't supportive though but is this an issue if you can run in flats? |

Yeah, I've learned that since, but, it recovers (painfully slowly, I might add) the tendonitis is still a little bit troublesome even when lacing my Brooks less tightly. I usually just do workouts in the flats, so I'd still like a slightly more supportive shoe to do easy/recovery/long runs in. |

If you like Brooks you might try the Green Silence. They are more cushioned and have a higher heel than a lot of minimal shoes but a very light upper with a kind of funky tongue that might vary the pressure. |

maybe try looking at some of the more supportive nike shoes if you like the upper from their lunaracer? |

support shoes similar to the brooks would be the nike structure triax, asics 2160, or saucony guide 5. make sure to get the 5, its more supportive then the 4. i think the guides would be your best bet with your foot issues due to the fact that they have a pretty wide toe box |

you might try the trance as well |

the trance isn't going to do you any good--it's basically the same shoe as the adrenaline, but with a little bit of extra padding. it seems like you don't need extra padding but want a slightly different overall structure. |
