So Tyson Gay, Walter Dix, Justin Gatlin and Ryan Bailey take the first 4 spots at the Olympic tials. Rodgers and Kimmons do make that final as does Jeff Demps. Our best bet (other than they beat themselves)to beat the Jamaicans would be what foursome and where? |

Ideally for me, Rodgers-Dix-Gay-Gatlin. With a no-Gay scenario: (Kimmons)-(Gatlin/Bailey)-Dix-(Rodgers/Gatlin). But JAM's (Nesta/Frater)-Blake-Bolt-Powell or Powell-Blake-(Nesta/Frater)-Bolt sounds pretty much invencible. |

Maurice Mitchell needs to run the third leg. He will get the stick around without dropping it. |

Demps/Kimmons--Dix--Spearmon/Salaam--Gatlin Or check this out: Gatlin--Spearmon--Dix--Salaam Why not? I like Spearmon for the 4x100, especially since he set his 60m-PR this year. With a running start, I think he's as good as anybody on the planet over 100m, except for Bolt. Also, Gatlin is showing IMHO great pick-up this year from 30-60m, after a standing start--perfect for leadoff, especially in an outside lane. Dix showed last year that he is probably the best high-speed turn runner the USA has--put him on third leg, and he will gain ground in a sneaky way. |

Doubt I'm alone in thinking we will not see Tyson Gay running in the 2012 OGs. |

So you think a switch with Gatlin and Dix is the way to go? That would be the best way to take adsvantage of a Jamaican mishap, which is what it will take for the USA to win. |

Duh! Forgot about Spearmon. This is proly the best combo without Gay, Rodgers-Spearmon-Dix-Gatlin. |

I was thinking Spearmon was done as far as a 4x1-er goes. I'm aldo not sold on Mitchell or Salaam. As of right now... Rodgers..Gatlin..Gay..Dix Yes I know...boring with no creativity. But that would be our best team if everyone is running as they have. I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan Bailey came on. If he does...hmmm? |

Is there any chance of Charles Silmon making the US 4 x 100m team? |

I like that line up Brute but what d'you got for a team without Gay? |

Yeah, I think you really have to discount Gay at the present time. He hasn't proven anything at all yet this year, while all the other guys are up and running. To be where they will be at in London, Gay basically needs to be where they are at now--and if he was, he would probably be competing. Unless he sees anything less than a podium finish in London as a failure, that is. And that could be the case, I guess we'll have to wait until trials to find out. Until then, he's not even a competitor, let alone a contender for the relay. |

I seriously doubt it but we've been surprised before. |

I think Gay will be there. But if he isn't... Rodgers..Gatlin..Kimmons..Dix Kimmons on third? Not..oh boy..about it but that would seem our only realistic option. That is if Bailey isn't a factor. If he's back to his sub 9.90 self then... Rodgers..Gatlin..Dix..Bailey As we know Dix is a great 200 guy so running the curve shouldn't be some biggie. While I love my team with Gay there I don't really want to see my other two. Without Gay the Jamaicans would really need to blow a handoff. We need Dix on anchor. |

I'm thinking Gay sees 2012 as his last year and all he cares about is those Olympic games. So he won't be out there for awhile yet. I don't think running in April means a whole hell of a lot in the big picture. What has Bolt really done so far? |

Not to start another thread. Auburn has three solid sprinters on Brock, Adams and Rowland. FSU has Maurice Mitchell LSU transfer Horathio Wiliams and....DAMN!...guy just ran a sub 10.10. Then theresc Webb and Hardy at Texas A&M and LSU. Anyone been following this? Now add Arkansas vs USC in that 4x4. |

As you know a big HBCU fan but Newman isn't at this level. A 10.08 PR won't do it. He is the best NCA&T sprinter however. |
