American heavy-hitter 100m guys barely beat the B-squad 4/28/2012 7:17PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
Rodgers, Gatlin, Patton, Dix in 38.40

Williams, Crawford (!), Kimmons, Bailey in 38.47

Not a great showing by the A team relative to the B team. I would have expected to have seen a sub-38 from this team, considering it could be the team in London.

Was there a handoff glitch somewhere?

Well, at least Patton completed another relay this year!

People would rather watch Paula Radcliff than these thugs.

Thanks for the vid!

Jamaica's first handoff was crap, they lost the race right there.

Rodgers was unimpressive on leadoff, and Patton was mediocre on third. Gatlin was rolling once he got the baton, and Dix looks like he's in smoking 200 form, the way he came around that curve.

Not sure what to think, other than it was cold.

Gatlin on the 2nd leg, WOW.

The slow time was because the 1st and 3rd legs looked like they were running in quicksand.

Not surprising that Walter Dix is in great shape, seeing as he's now training in Los Angeles; the track and field capital of the world.

given their form shown today, a lineup of kimmons-gatlin-bailey-dix would have thrown down a pretty decent time, even in the cold.

GATLIN'S LEG O_O !!

I wouldn't go so far as to give it a "wow", it's not like he was running against Blake.

He did look good especially in the first 30, and then he cruised...that first 30 was nails, though.

I think Lemaitre's second leg at the WC's in Daegu would have blown away Gatlin's here at Penn:

Quicksand, LOL--exactly.

Maybe Demps on leadoff and Salami on the turn?

First of all, its April.

Secondly, it was COLD as heck. Deagu was warm.

Third of all no one was ripping it today.

Heaven help US if Patton is on the London squad. Replace him with Bailey (too bad we can't have Gay).

What about Wally? Or even Salami?

I know, I know, the conditions sucked. I know.

But Patton LOOKED the same as he ever has on that turn, except slower.

And I just can't stand Rodgers, he'd have to do something really amazing to win me over. No good reason for this, I admit, other than that he's dumber than a bag of hammers.

Then again so is Gatlin, and I don't mind him. Whatever.

I can't think of anybody better to put on the relay than Spearmon...with the running start, he would be credible on any of legs 2, 3, and 4. I'd probably put him on 3rd, even though Dix can run a mean turn, because I think Dix has a greater burst of top-speed that could get another .10-.15 on anchor leg.
