Has it been of value for recovering from injury.

Depends on the injury. For muscle soreness or anything soft tissue related it works great. Just makes your breath smell like death. I recommend never using it like 3 days in a row, or the smell just radiates off you. Like a garlic smell.

Do you use DMSO itself or with other agents such as aspirin crushed, etc.?

A guy I work with has used it for soft tissue problems and he said it works well. Makes your breath smell like garlic. You need to VERY careful that your skin and hands are very clean before you apply it.

DMSO is an 1980s thing. I mixed it with aspirin and used it for soft tissue injuries. There was some verification that it also caused cataracts. At any rate, I had a cataract removed when I was forty years old. That was rare for a forty year old. But I felt it was caused by DMSO use. I believe there was some subsequent tests that threw doubt on this idea.

I dont know what it would do on its own. It passed through the skin real easily so if you dissolve some drugs in it they will go in. I wouldnt use it though it sounds disgusting.

The sulfur in dimethylsulfoxide kills herpes. So a friend of mine sells it on his website (popular) and he makes ($$$).
He now lives in South America. Wrote a book on it too. I studied the science for a decade. Basically they get the stuff
from a chemical reaction that occurs from making paper (wood pulp).

I use it as a compound vehicle in lab work. Not sure I'd be willing to apply it to my own skin though.

I bought some from a tack shop and used it for retrocalcaneal bursitis and found it made no difference.

It's not particularly useful. It's safe, but all it does is give you garlic breath and itchy skin. Just ice it, you'll be better off. If you want to give it a shot, go for it. It's no more expensive than a copay at the doctor's. There was one occasion where it may have helped me with a very mild case of plantar fasciitis once, but I've had a lot of other injuries it has not helped at all with.

I've used it as a sulfiding agent for catalyst in a gasoil hydrotreating unit. It is seriously stinky! I'm not sure what good it does for recovery.

I haven't heard of that stuff since 1983.

I heard it gives you bad breath. I always try to avoid putting chemicals into my blood stream that give me bad breath. Other than beer.
