When I ran cross country I was 6'0 and 140 lbs. I cut back my mileage and started lifting weights. I am now 165 lbs and people STILL call me skinny! When I am considered not skinny? I don't think my frame can support much bigger muscles. I might be able to pack on an extra 5-10 lbs of muscle if I try really hard, but I'm almost at the end of the road. |

I'm sure if you tried hard enough you could pack on an extra 20-30 lbs of fat at which point you would no longer be considered skinny. |

I don't want to put on fat weight, only muscle. I still can't believe people say I'm SO skinny at 165 lbs. Anyone else find this weird? |

It can be done. I'm 6'3" and when running track/xc I was always extremely skinny, hovering around 150lbs. After 3-4 years of consistent weight-lifting, consuming a lot of protein, and dabbling with creatine here and there, I'm 6'3" and 215lbs. Much happier with these dimensions. When you're lifting, try to apply the same intensity and focus you had on the track. I've always worked out until I felt totally depleted. I also devote a lot of effort to eating well and eating often. This is just as important. If you keep at it you can do it. Trust me I thought gaining muscle on my frame was impossible but I've proven myself wrong, fortunately. |

They probably mean it as a compliment. That or they are just jealous. 165 is pretty lean for 6', but you really have to ask yourself why you care so much about what others think about your physique. |

Why do I care what other people think? Because perception is reality, whether I chose to acknowledge that or not. |

It depends upon who is doing the considering. I may not consider you skinny, but I certainly consider you stupid. |

Is this about impressing women? Usually they just want to weight less than you, so 165 isn't the worst case scenario (most women still qualify, but they will only let themselves go to 165 not 200, or whatever you are thinking would make you burly). |

When I was running in college I was 6'0" and 130. I have continued recreational running the last 10 years, but have done a fair amount of lifting and swimming too. I have easily bulked up to around 135lbs now. |

Not until your belly sticks out farther than your weiner, hence the term Dickey-Doo. |

Your only skinny if the person around you are thicker than you. Faster forward this video to the 12:14 mark and listen to what the British announcer calls Steve Prefontaine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFty7To8oQk |

Your height to weight ratio is absolutely normal, people are just used to everyone being extremely obese in America. When someone calls you skinny just say "Of course I'm skinny you idiot I run cross country and I'm supposed to be that way." |

When a woman allows herself to glance your way rather than shield her eyes from the visual horror of staring at a ghost from Auschwitz? |

THIS. Not turning heads anymore. Kind of miss the confidence that it gave me. Let's be honest, when you approach a woman, they eye you up immediately and determine whether or not you move on to part two which is the personality test via those opening lines. The thin man now has to work as hard as the fat man to get between the sheets. |

The most popular male porn star among young women is 5'10" and 135 lbs. Of course he is a bit "larger" than average but not freakishly so. It's his deportment of confidence that makes the difference. |
