Can't believe she's not running at Penn. Shows she's afraid. We can't have an American runner who's afraid to compete with the foreigners.

Obviously a troll here, but for those who may not know, Hasay will also be competing at the Payton Jordan Invitational, which, quite frankly, is the more prestigious of the two meets.

Or is Reid "duck"ing Hasay? Oregon is much nicer than Penn, which has a shower room related dark cloud overhead.

Hasay does not BELONG to any one country. She is international, she is EXTRATERRESTRIAL.

Payton Jordan is NOT the more prestigious of the two meets. It does have faster distance races, though.

Then Bernard Lagat, Nick Symmonds, Sanya Richards-Ross, Allyson Felix, Leo Manzano, Kirani James, others, and HER TEAMMATES are competing at Payton Jordan this weekend?

I'm pretty sure that if you look at the field for the women's 5000m run at Payton Jordan, it is clear that Vin made the right choice for Hassay. What point is there for her to go to the Penn Relays and compete in either a) relays she wont run in at PAC 12s or NCAAs b) run in 5000/10000 where the competition is not that great...It is definitely 'NOT BEING AFRAID'. It's smart and stategic for her to compete with the best in hopes of getting good races and standards.

Hasay could have run Mt. SAC and then run Penn. She shouldn't even be chasing standards anyway because there are around five people ahead of her in every race.

Phil Knight cut back on their travel allowance. She had to decide between the NCAA Meet and the Penn Relays, and Penn lost out this time.

Kybaws is exactly right. Why would anyone want to travel a full day and experience a three hour time difference when there is a much more competitive race right in your backyard? The 5000M at Payton Jordan (in case no one has checked) is stacked with talent, including young Brits Twell and Pidgeon. It should be fun to watch.

Not to mention Sally Kipyego (if she paces or races should lead to a phenomenal time) plus top collegians in Emily Infeld, Deborah Maier, and Jessica (Pixler) Tebo that Hasay is sure to face at NCAAs.

I wasn't aware collegiate athletes, even superstars, get to simply decide to have their university pay to enter them in a meet and then fly them across the country. Even less likely that they get to make such a decision based on whether or not they feel like racing against one particular competitor. Jordan may not be living up to every stranger's expectations, but she is still one of the very best runners ever.

Jordan has run Payton the last two years (Freshman and Sophomore), so it's a normal part of her schedule.

She's running close to home so I imagine many of her fans and former coaches will be there to watch. Go Jordan!

Uh, A$$bag....it's possible that Sheila Reid is ducking racing against Jordan since she chose not to run Payton Jordan.

It works in the reverse too, dikhead.

If Jordan is so terrified of Sheila Reid, I'd hate to see her with Africans if she ever makes the Olympics representing American Samoa!
