what's the farthest you've run on a treadmill and do you know of any potential risks to running over a certain distance? |

15 @ 6min pace. First 10 wasn't bad, was able to just zone out, next 2 kinda sucked and the last 3 were terrible. I find that anything over an hour is rough. |

I've done 20milers on a treadmill at the gym. It sucks more than you can imagine, but when the weather makes it impossible to go outside, you got to get the run in. That being said, I ended up needing knee surgery because I was training too much on the treadmill in 2010/2011 and ended up with a plica. The key to the long runs was to have a friend jump on the treadmill next to me for at least part of the run. |

21 Run my age in miles every year, and one year the weather in late November in Montana was too much for me. Only got 2 in outside and ran the rest on the dreadmill. |

My friend once did 22 miles at 7:18 pace during the winter. 3:07 marathoner. He's mentally tough as nails and is able to just zone out and run like that for hours. He has absolutely no foot speed - which prevents him from being really good. |

About 90 minutes or so. Not sure how far I went. A guy in my town recently ran 16 hours (95 miles, if I recall) on a treadmill at the local YMCA to raise money for charity. |

I've done 18 in the winter during a week when it never got warm enough to melt the ice on the roads (where I live doesn't get plowed very well) and it was hell. I don't get how anyone could enjoy using those things except when the weather is abysmal. |

I at least get in a 20 miler during the summer months but have done several 18 miles in the past. Certainly not looking forward to them... Not sure of potential risk--except sheer boredom. I will at least alternate the LRs. One weekend outdoors and another on the mill. I really think the treadmill is a good training tool. You know, sort of helps you prepare for a warm race... |

Never did go longer than 60 minutes on one of those things, even when its like 30 degrees I'd rather be outside. |
