The D3 thread got me thinking about this fellow. Does anyone have any information on his whereabouts? For those that do know what happened to him, he was nearly killed while visiting his home in Kenya a couple years ago. I'm pretty sure he never competed again in college. He was a great athlete, and a splendid guy. And for all the D1 big shots, he took down Peter Kosgei (Arkansas) in a fairly memorable steeple back in the day. I hope he's doing well. |

If his LinkedIn profile is to be believed, he's now a PhD student in chemistry at Birmingham in NYC so that's good news. When he got mugged last year he said he would probably try the marathon once he got healthy again but I can't find any updates about that. |

Very cool. |

I've lived in NYC for several decades and am entirely unfamiliar with this "Birmingham." Anyone know anything about it? |

The previous poster was way off. It's actually Binghamton, and his LinkedIn profile lists him in the NY State area and not NYC. Good for Peter! |

Peter is back running again and in a PhD program in Chemistry at Binghamton University. He ran his first ever half marathon (on 5-k training) early May in 1:07:54 Upcoming races include the Utica Boilermaker 15-k in July. |

Thanks for the update, that's great to hear. If he runs the Boilermaker this year, hopefully he remembers to bring shorts. |

That's great that he is running again. Hearing about what those thugs did to him in Kenya was heartbreaking. |
