What do you some of you USATF insiders know about him? Do you think he's a good guy for the job?

Depends. Will he divest his company (that was hired by USATF while Max was a Board member)? Or will he "invest" more money in activities that ultimately fund max's other business ventures?

Will he stand up to those that hired him or will he be a puppet for the Board?

Considering he's from NASCAR it's going to bring logo placement into a whole new light.

Is this the same guy who used his position on the board to send an email to all USATF members trying to sell his book?

Interesting that he went to Notre Dame and has ties to the area around the headquarters. How many people wouldn't consider the job because of its location?

The press releases are all corporate speak and obfuscation. What's this guy actually going to DO?

I'm pretty sure Jill stopped working for USATF years ago.

He is a hand picked local insider that will protect Hightower and her crew.
Yes he has sat on the board but he is not from the sport and is unknown in running circles.
He is being touted for his fund raising capabilities , ok , but we need someone who can challenge status quo , has a vision of the future , understands the past and will not look past the dysfunctional inept Hightower and crew.

I searched for this and only found a press release on the flotrack site and then I found it in the the flotrack twitter feed.

Phil Hersh has it in this article on the hire:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/chi-us-tracks-ceo-search-finally-ends-20120423,0,1024368.column

And $500,000 is what previous CEO Doug Logan made:
http://www.letsrun.com/2010/logan-1021.php

Apparently, USATF had a conference call on the hire and forgot to invite the largest online entity that covers the sport of track and field on a daily basisUpdate: Good news LetsRun.com was invited. See post below. (and the only one who looked into the firing of Doug Logan)... little letsrun.com. Maybe we should stop calling ourselves little.

Hopefully it was an oversight.

If they're worried we wouldn't serve up a few softball questions then Max Siegel has got more problems on his hands than he thought.

Logan's contract here: http://www.letsrun.com/2010/logan-1021.php

I swear I searched my inbox for about 5 minutes just to make sure we weren't invited to the call so I wouldn't look stupid posting what I did in the post above.

Now I see they did invite us. I discovered some USATF emails get filtered into a spam inbox of mine I never look at. Had to laugh at that one. Who knows what great info I've been missing.
