Did anyone catch Ketiany's cumulative 20 mile split. I think the marathon is like 20 miles + 10km plus like 5 meters or something. I'm trying to figure out what her final 10km was run in. I think it might have been under 31:40. 21 5:09 22 5:10 23 5:07 23 4:59 25 5:02 I didn't see mile 26 but know here final bit from 40km to the finish was run at 5:01.3 pace. So eyeballing those splits and it looks like that comes out to something close to 5:05 MILE pace after mile 20 and 5;05 mile pace is a 31:35 10km. But we'd know for sure if we had her 20 mile split. And how much farther is marathon than 20 miles plus 10km. |

Rounding up, there's 10010m to go after 20 miles. |

A marathon is 15 meters longer than 20 miles plus 10k. That is an amazing finish. |

There is 10,008.12 meters left after 20 miles in the marathon. |

Interestingly if that was run as a 10k on its own it would be well inside the top 500 all time performances. |
| Oh, and one more thing... |
| ||
|
It would also be a world leader right now by nearly two minutes!

she coud probably run 30-flat for a track 10k same like these 2"03 guys coud get close to 26'30 off just their M training |

PEDs really work, especially with the Afrikans. I am shocked how fast the women are running these days. It is hard to believe since women have so many differences in their bodies. |

But another thing is even more interesting: 30km WR (female) is 1:38;23...noticed that Keitany covered 10-40km in 1:38;10?? |
| Absolutely insane! |

Just about 2 minutes off of the 10k world record.... What the heck! |

Let's all put this in perspective. 31:40, is like a man running a 27:34 for his last 10k of a marathon...sweet jesus. |
| hello stupid |

Ummm...more like 28:25, but yeah, pretty damn fast. |

Joyce Chepkirui should pace them to 1:09:04 for the half marathon. Mary Keitany should run under 1:10:00 for the first half. She could tell the pacemakers to go faster. |

Put in perspective: Paula Radcliffe split 1:36:36 for 30k and closed the very same 20 mile to finish split in 31:52 on her way to 2:15:25. Yeah, whatever Paula was paced blah blah... The women dogged the first 10k today so of course they'd have more in the tank at the end. This front page nonsense about "the best final 10km in women's marathoning history" is just that- nonsense. Paul hit both 30k and the finish line over 3 minutes ahead of anyone today. |

On the IAAF tables, a 31:40 for a woman is 1157 points, for a man that same score is 27:44, so a bit slower, but much faster than 28:25. |

The pacemaking was slow. Mary Keitany would split 2:21:48 if she runs evenly. There should be male pacemakers because Paula has one. |

If you use Melkamu's 29:53 and Bekele's 26:17 as the comparison points, 31:40 is equivalent to about 27:50 (WR x 1.06). |
