Title says it all, pretty damn impressive performance especially winning by 6 seconds. I believe he ran 4:07 for 1600 last year so one would think he should be able to possibly get the PA 1600 record of 4:03 too

Very impressive run, led from gun to tape. The mild and very early spring in PA should produce some fast times this year. Magaha could indeed threaten Vandergrift's 1600 record this year. He's going to Penn, which is a great thing for him academically. Enjoy his senior year of high school, this will be as good as it gets.

Yep that's right. His career is over. He's going to Penn.

I guess they historically have one or two good mid-d guys on terrible teams for the last 20 years. Let's hope he is one of them.

He was out for a lot of indoor due to mono. So i'm surprised he is back so quickly

This kid has loads of talent. He had a great XC season and was one of the favorites going into states, unfortunately he had a bad day there but still. With speed like this and the endurance he showed in XC I think the mile state record is definitely a possibility. He is very hit or miss though, extremely inconsistent, but if he's in the right race and with a kick like his, he has a shot.

Also, it's Vandegrift, not VangeRgrift.

Upper Moreland, and he ran it at the Abington Invite, PA.

He didn't really have a bad day at states. Maybe poor tactics (he lead by like 5-10m for a while), but most of it was because he's an 800/miler and the PA state course in definitely not for speed guys. It is horribly biased towards mudders and endurance types; that's why Drew lost to guys he beat by tons on Lehigh's pancake-flat course.

They were discussing this on Dyestat Tracktalk and one guy said this was hand timed. They showed a picture of the watch they used with the 148.82 on it.

He is a great kid. Hopefully things will work out well for him at Penn. There was absolutely no comp in this race.

Nope, it just so happened his coach had the same time as the FAT. I was at the meet. I had him in 1:48.6, splitting 52/56. The PA Indoor Champ was in the race but got caught up in the first 100m in the crowd, so Drew did this from the front, alone.
