Has anyone experienced fatigue and a feeling of dead legs during the spring allergy season? I've always had the sneezing, stuffy nose, water eyes etc. This past year I've picked up running again, I'm up to about 50 mpw, most of my running in the early morning. The past 1-2 weeks have been rough, my easy pace now feels like tempo pace and my legs feel heavy. I've cut back the mileage and taken some days off. Still feel the same, anyone dealt with this in the past? |

It is because you are weak and genetically inferior. Same with Asthma, why athletes get to take drugs is beyond me. All natural games is my vote, if you have asthma, nature determined you are weak and inferior. You need medicine to be faster? It's just wrong. |

I have the most success with Alavert and Mucinex but people seem to respond differently to antihistamines and decongestants. Supposedly pollen peaks in the middle of the day so early morning is probably a good idea. |

I've tried a few different allergy meds and most of them make me feel groggy and crappier. I guess I'll just push through until the spring allergy season is over. Either that or I'll just die because I'm weak and inferior. We'll find out..... |

I run at night through my very-dark neighborhood, and I wear a headlamp. When I look up I see the pollen falling and it looks like snow flurries! That stuff is brutal. Galen is on to something by wearing that mask. |

I am having similar problem. Maybe you should try to run on the threadmill. I had to back off on my mileage. My legs feel completely dead. My nose is running like crazy. The wind make things even worse. |

buy into the concept of nasal steroids....nasonex (Fluticasone generic). It works...and no side effects. Everything else out there is a scam. Plus once you get it in your system, you dont have to take it every day. The one downside is if you compete and it is a banned substance (I have no idea). |

sounds intense... I get some pretty bad sniffles myself around july. I try to take Benadryl at night because it puts me right to bed but it lasts all day. I'll take it every night for a week, then every other night for the 2nd week and then twice on the third week. After that I only take it when I feel the sneezes coming back on and thats pretty rare. Try to compensate for it too, so next year start taking the Benadryl a week or two before your allergies start to ramp up and you'll be ready for the war against whatever is dominating you. |

thanks for the input everyone. i'm gonna have to deal with it for this year, i started using the neti pot and that seems to work. i have a half marathon on 5/6 so we'll see how that goes. i definitely have to tackle this before it starts next year. |
