I am going to run Boston next year, but I need to qualify first. How far under 3:05 will I need to run to be able to register safely? I know that there are waves of registrants for 30 minutes, 20 minutes, and 10 minutes under the qualifying time. I am curious to hear from those who have run whether 3:05 will get in, or if I need to be in one of the first waves.

I would say about five minutes under will get you in safely.

I think with the new standards we will see all runners with qualifying times get to enter.

This race is so overrated. Do yourself a favor and get rid of your hard-on for this "elite" marathon and train for something else.

I also don't think it will sell out. At least not until it opens to all qualifiers. Not many people requalified today, respectively.

Run a 2:50 just to be safe.

The 2013 BQ is 5-minutes faster for every age group, both sexes. And today plenty of runners failed to get that BQ. Forecast: everyone who qualifies by next Sept. gets a bib.

They still have slow standards for women comparably
