His family sounds parasitic. Out to get his money and they don't even bother taking care of his cows at the farm 5 miles away? Sad

I've noticed SI has been doing a lot more coverage on pro running lately, anybody know why? Is this just an Olympic year thing, a vast Nike-funded conspiracy or are they just (gasp) realizing that running is a legitimate sport to cover?

"Ummmmmm no" ?

Well, it was hot out. The announcers thought he was nuts to go out so hard. No Kenyan man had ever won the Olympic marathon. The Olympic Games is kind of a big meet. Tell us why this was not the greatest marathon in history?

" But a preliminary postmortem report released last June says that Wanjiru had injuries on his hands and knees "consistent with conscious landing on fours" but that he died from blunt trauma to the back of the head."

So, if this "preliminary postmortem" - done by whom???? of the injuries to his hands and knees is true, then it does not line up with what Baden has clearly said about this being a self-inflicted Contrecoup injury! He can't fall both ways and be simultaneous injured both in the front and back at the same time!

Since the railing to the roof titles is not enough of a distance or wide enough to cause such and injury to his hands and knees, he sure as hell didnt initially fall face first, hit the ground, then conveniently roll over and then forcable smash his head laying backwards on the ground! It simply doesn't make any sense!!!!! So, in their explination he tries to jump over the railing then catching his foot/feet, swings downward face first, smashes his hands and knees on the tiles that protrude outward from the building only two feet, then rolls 180* over onto his back and then drops 10 feet smashing his head???? BULLSHIT! It wont work!

He was more than likely hit from behind first and then tossed over the balcony or possibly knocked down from behind giving him his hand and knee injuries first! then once he was down, he had his head forcable slamed backwards into the pavement to make it look like he fell!!!!!

Why in the hell was it that the very camera focussed on that very spot was not working???? How frick'in convenient can you get? Let me tell you why, because some son of a bitch turned it off beforehand!!!

There is a god damn smoke screen here in front of this whole thing that certain officials in Kenya have put up to hide the truth of this brutal murder!
When is someone with some clear intelligence going to see this for what it is? MURDER!!!!!!

A sad story.

This really reminds me of the stories we frequently hear about MLB/NBA/NFL stars who rise from the slums but then have to give so much of their money to pay for every single cousin they've met in their life. Often they end up getting shot or stolen from when in their hometown.

Falling onto the balcony was not enough to cause injuries to his knees and hands but being knocked down from behind is?

It has been mentioned that Sammy was known to exit his house via balcony jump while with pals. Easy to see that if he had been drinking and was in a rush during the night, that he could have misstepped and toppled, hitting his head fiercely. While many tried to get money out of him, it is hard to suspect murder or something absurdly foul like that. A domestic dispute gone wrong...

Sammy Wanjiru will always be my favorite marathoner. His career, nay, life, was way too freaking short. RIP.

I hate when people post "RIP". Why would you take such a short cut when you're trying to honor somebody's life? I see it all the time on Facebook, which is even more inappropriate because they actually know the person who died. Is it that much harder to type rest in peace out?
