A couple months back I urinated all blood after a run. Freaked out I went to the ER and got the all clear. Follow up with the urologist and he said I probably passed something and there is still a stone in there that may come out. Ever since then I feel slight soreness in the kidney area throughout the day at work. My runs are hit or miss when the pain acts up. The first couple miles are fine then the pain slowly creeps in spreading throughout my entire lower back. I had sciatica problems last year in the same area of the back but I believe this to be unrelated to that. Anyone have kidney stone problems affect running? |

Not sure if you have a primary doctor? But a Nephrologist is a kidney specialist and would be the one to see. |

Had a similar experience my senior year in high school almost cost me the entire season. No stones, I was told it was from overtraining. I was not the same when I returned after several weeks not being allowed to run until I was totally symptom free. Fast forward 31 years later I developed kidney cancer in the same kidney. I am NOT saying or implying the same will happen to you. I strongly urge you to make sure you are well hydrated and make an appointment with a nephrologist to get checked out if just for your own piece of mind. In the meantime and I know this is hard to read, stop training and let your self heal. Good luck! |
