Save for the Kenyan-American Lagat not one US athlete is expected to medal in a middle distance or distance event at the London 2012 Games, and I think they are being very generous predicting that one medal for Lagat. So America can put a man on the moon, but can't find a US born athlete to compete and win a distance medal at track and field's premier games. You all got that? Discuss. http://www.trackandfieldnews.com/index.php/special-article-right-ad-only/1007 http://www.trackandfieldnews.com/index.php/special-article-right-ad-only/1008 |

Yeah because Olympic medals in distance events are the true barometer of a country's success. Kenya and Ethiopia can have their distance medals. We'll continue to enjoy throwing out more food than those countries consume, while watching commercials with their skinny kids begging for money. |

That's why Americans are fat and are epic failures on the track. |

Why is it important that they be "US born"? |

Pretty out there marathon prediction. |

Wow! So the Kenyans can sharpen a stick and make fire, but they can't win a medal at any distance under 800m? Looks like a decent medal count for the US. |

We get it, you don't like to compete... so why are you here? |

not one of those predictions will be correct. |

Trey Hardee is pretty good in case you didn't notice. Even if Eaton hits his LJ/HJ/100/110 PR's he still has a fight. |

How do they have Anita Wlodarczyk not even medaling in the women's hammer? That list is BS. |

Sort of funny that a magazine that has such trouble with facts (example:. giving Salazar credit for races he never ran in their articlr on him) would venture to make predicts 4 months in advance of an event. First learn to fact check then maybe we'll be intersted in what you have to say. Get that right for a while and then after a while maybe your predictions will be relavent. |

Not a single one of the predicted marathon medalists will even make the Olympics. Silas Kiplagat will get no less than second. Mo Farah is walking away with at least one gold. Robles will win gold. There is so much wrong with these predictions. |
| There is another possibility |

With Lagat and possibly Bekele in the 5000 and Jeylan plus possibly Bekele in the 10000 (along with the rest of the East Africans) it is not at all obvious that Farah will win gold. It would not be entirely shocking if he did not medal at all. |

I think it is pretty far in advance to make predictions, especially before the outdoor season has really gotten underway. My guesses for golds would be 100 - bolt 200 - bolt 400 - james 800 - rudisha 1500 - kiprop steeple - kipruto 5000 - farah 10,000 - farah marathon - Geb! (in my heart).....but I'd really guess geoffrey mutai as I don't know much about women' sprints, i'll skip them 800 - semenya 1500 - uceny steeple - zaripova 5000 - dibaba 10,000 - dibaba marathon - radcliffe! (for realz) |
