Okay, thread title tells most of it. My home computer has picked up an annoying virus (not, I think, the thing that's messing up Macs right now--I have a PC) and I'm probably going to need to have the drive cleaned. The guys we used to use have gotten too successful and are now just working for business clients, so I need someone else.

Can anyone recommend an outfit that you've had good results with? I'd really appreciate *any* leads.

Geek sqaud is overpriced and charge you for the stupidest reasons. Do not go there, they will charge you extra fees for random testing and they wont even fix the computer properly. I've been there before my friend, dont go there. Dont be a duster.

Yeah, Geek Squad are a bunch of kooks.
I tried to get a Win boot disc and the
stinking beeatch bitched about it. Years
ago they'd do it. Get a USB stick with
Emisofts emergency malware remover but
first disconnect the internet from the
computer. Good lucky wucky yuck yuck yuck!

I recommend the Cable Doctor on 14th near Union Square:

I have used this guy Jay Shapiro on 3rd Ave and 75th street who is really amazing. He has 20 yrs experience and he is Microsoft cert. Def worth calling him. I believe his num is 917 318 5659. Hope this helps

Plus he is open weekends. I even had my mom use him and he recovered all her data.
