Depends on the track. The start line is offset to account for the difference in lap length, but to my knowledge, it can be different on different tracks.

You're going to be running ~7.5 laps, one full one without jumps. If you measure the difference between the 3000m start and the steeple start then you can figure it out.

One lap on our outside pit steeple was just about 420m, which meant 9:00 pace was about 1:15.5/lap, and we ran 7.14 laps with the start offset.

Last year at a meet I had a girl running 2000mSC on an outside pit, which they hit on every lap. They started maybe 8m back of the 1500m start, so about 4.75 laps for 2000m is consistent with the 420m another poster mentioned.

Stupid question but ...

Are the hurdles and water jump uniformly spaced for all steeple races, regardless of where the water pit is?

So, for example, is the first hurdle always XXX meters from the start line and is the first water jump always XXX meters into the second lap, etc.?

Just curious.

No. Usually on an outside jump you are hurdling pretty soon after the start compared to an inside pit where there is a bit more time until you hurdle for the first time.
