Predict my 400/800 3/28/2012 7:20PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
I have been wondering sometimes I should go for this Friday and don’t know where I’m at, but I feel faster/fitter than ever. I’m 18 yrs old 150-55 pounds 5'10" and a 400-800 runner. I’ll probably run the 4x800 400 and 4x400 so i could anyone help me see how fast I can go, or shoot for. My OPEN prs are 2:04 and 53, relay PRs are 2:01 and 51.4.
A recent workout was been 16x200 went like 28,29,30,30,30,30,29 till last one then 26. I ran most pretty conservatively. I have also been doing workouts like 10-12 by 500-600 broken up like first 200 sub 30 stride 100 jog 100 then hard 100, or hard 100 and stride 100(600)with 90ish sec rest till half way point then 2:00 rest. My hard 100's are 12hi to 13 high; sometimes I run 14s to be lazy...
My endurance has never been that good but lately I’ve been doing 5.5-6.5 mile runs at 6:30-40 pace and did 4.25 at 6:15 the other day. I know everyone says they run conservatively but I really did on the 200's, I trained hard in the summer and had a great fall and winter period so I can build a memorable last year running.
We did 300 and 600 meter trials I got 37 and 1:27 but the 600 I ran just to win not really bust out. My 600 pr is 1:26 from last year, 4 days before state where I ran 2:01 relay split. What times does anyone who knows what they are talking about say I am at?

If you did more speed work you could be a 1:55 and 49 runner.

congrats that is a great way to start the season. i think if you focus on the 800 you can run 155 by the end of the season. its good for you to keep up the 800 400 double at the less important meets

Thanks, yeah one of the coaches said i should break 2:00 asap, then i can try and hit a time around 1:56 by league/regionals/state. and the 400 was out of lane 9, i usually only run 400s in the relay so i wanna see what i can do from a good lane and not having tied my best time earlier.

i'd say right now u can run 1:58 high. start lengthening those faster intervals. 200s are good now but start doing 400s then 600s. if u can do 3x 600 w/ 4-5 min rest under 1:30 then you'll be good for a 1:55ish come end of season. good luck

bump, aslso i did a workout thursday
700-600-500-300-200 n back up rest was 100meter walk~90sec
they were broken up like 700 was 300 at 44 stride 200 jog 100 race pace 100(14 sec), 600-500 were similar as i ran through 300 at 44 n on the 200 our #1 sprinter wanted to race all the sudden so we went 25 high and i blew up after that, but still ran through 200 at 28-29 but died off after that on the 300 back up to 700 reps.It didnt hurt i just felt the tightness(of course from my BFF lactic).

That 600 split tells me you clearly are sub 2 min.
You also can run 26 200s after a lot of repeats.
Go out in 56 hold on to finish in 1:57.8

I'm a sub 2 min Master with more 800 races then most of the kids on here so I know what i'm talking about

I'd guess you're probably around 2 flat for the 8 and 51 for the 4. That's really good work though! I wish the quarter milers at my school went on 5 and 6 mile runs! They can barely run 1 mile! Keep it up, best of luck!
