I've been hitting the weights recently and have gone from being 155 consistently to 170. I'm 6'1'' and it's all muscle, mostly upper body (maybe a little lower body). I havn't really been racing, just building a base for some summer races, and still run the same amount, even a little more some weeks. Will this be detrimental to my race times? I cant decide between my love of lustful ladies, or love of running. P.S. Not a troll despite my last sentence and name. |

I went from 143 to 163 (all muscle) and my (mediocre) times improved from 800 down, stayed the same @ 1500, and worsened from 3-5K on up. And especially I suck on long hills during races. I would never go back to the scrawniness. |

meaningless weight will be detrimental. some of the added strength will probably help tho. |

Your sprints will be faster, and overall you will look better and have more confidence. There should be no decrease in health but you will be slower at the long distances. In return for a nice post here is Rihanna: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_W_xLWtNa0 |
