one of the girls on my team was mad that the girls couldn't go shirts off like the guys (which she could have), and made a big deal while an administrator was up at the track. right then and there, he banned shirtless running on our track team. how idiotic is this?

That is beyond dumb. The girl and the administrator both sound like tools.

Happened at my high school, and the claim was that it was both "unsafe and unhealthy." And that was the end of the discussion.

then complain that you feel sexually uncomfortable when they just wear a job bra. And feel proud, because you'll be the first male to ever complain about this, but you will have made your point

Both sexes should be allowed to run shirtless. The girls just need to be required to wear these.

Apparently at my high school female runners were NOT premitted to run without a shirt, because our coach could get a lawsuit against him however the boys were. I never complained and neither did the other distance girl on the team. I just thought it was ridiculous that the boys were allowed but the girls weren't which to me is sexist since both boys and girls can be sexually assaultd by a male coach (JERRY SANDUSKY!)

Agreed. The guys should wear them too. It wouldn't be the first time most male XC runners wore something like that.

This happened this last cross season at my school. Both boys and girls have to wear shirts because our AD thought that the girls just in sports bras were "provoking" males and would cause them to be sexually assaulted, etc... Which to me is an insult to our sport.

Solution for guys: Buy a LOT of lightweight material singlets... Preferably in lighter colors.

I used to be on the boys' side here and thought nothing of running shirtless but now that I'm a parent I see that shirts-off is not just not to keep cool.

If I was coaching a coed team right now I'd say shirtless is OK for boys and girls while you are running but it's shirts-on as soon as the workout is over.

i agree, and this has never been a problem with our school. whenever we're done running, we put our shirts back on

Me and my boys just take our shirts off when we get off campus and put them on when we come back. Problem solved!

Exactly what we did in H.S.

This rule is stupid to a runner, but the people complaining don't run and it is way too easy for the A.D. to just make wearing shirts a rule. If you take them off out of site and put them back on out of site, the problem is pretty much solved.

At my school some elementary parent complained because she thought it was inappropriate for her young child to see high school boys without shirts. Now our guys have to leave shirts on.
I wanted to ask her if she's ever been to a public beach or pool? Or is it inappropriate.
If the OP see's that girl at a pool party or public pool he should ask her if she's offended.
