| PowerBar Team Elite |
| ||
|
Dane Rauschenberg had a massive energy bonk during an ultra this weekend while using PowerBar product. Team Elite doesn't seem that elite with folks like Danus on it. |

Any bonehead can be part of Team Elite... it's just some free product in exchange for some booth time for Danus. |

You don't necessarily need to be a superstar to be on these teams. I was on Team Gu several years ago, and I'm halfway between fast and hobbyjogger. I got a bunch of free product, which is nice. |

1/10. Looked like a legit thread at first, but is clearly just the same guy who is crazy about bashing Rauschenberg on every thread. |
| i think its a valid topic |

I think it is a good topic. If it were your company, would you want people who bonk all the time pushing your energy product? D.R. did come up 6 hours short in North Carolina. He also missed a 26.2 PR attempt by 30 minutes last year. He is not trained or fueled property. Legitimate topic. |

Can I get sponsored by them if Dane can? I might be able to break 16 for 5k |

Maybe it's not the PowerBar products maybe he needs to learn about oxygen debt... http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=4480310&page=0 |

Oh, shut up. I never heard of Dane Rauschenberg before someone on LRC became obsessed with him and I don't care what he does or doesn't do. Get a life and stop talking about this guy. No one cares about him one way or the other and he is not worth posting about. |

Someone who doesn't care would not post like that. Got to be Dane's Google Alert going off again. He may be 6 hours late to finish, but he's much faster to respond to any criticism. PowerBar product has not been kind to Dane's energy level. |

If you don't want to talk about him, let's talk about one of his sponsors...Altra shoe http://www.altrazerodrop.com/ Anyone ever heard of them? Tried them? What is zero drop? A shoe with a minimalist heel? If I was going to try ultras I would want as much padding and heel support as I could get. I never heard of him either until I did a google search. He seems like one of those obsessive types with too much time on his hands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dane_Rauschenberg Now you're saying he's getting into ultras and maybe cutting corners or not quite living up to his claims? |

"If I was going to try ultras I would want as much padding and heel support as I could get." This is wrong. |

generally i would agree, but with how slow these guys are "running" its nearly impossible to have turnover and the ability to land midfoot or forefoot. Can it even be called running when they are going that slow? |

This is going to sound crazy coming from me, but I don't think he cheated THIS time. I think this was a true indicator of his fitness level. We had some eyes on him this weekend... if there was any cheating, it was in short bursts. Having said that, there is absolutely no reason to believe that he could have ever made 202 miles a couple of years ago based on this performance. (And even if you ignore the eyewitness and video proof of cheating.). This was the first time (in 3 attempts) he ever finished a hundo. Don't be surprised if he adds this to his self published Wikipedia page. |

What's a hundo? |

There should be a powerbar eating contest, maybe they would be elite in that? Come on guys, it is more of an advertising cost than a true attempt at creating some dominating running squad. If they get average runners to push powerbar, then the 10 million below average joggers will spend hundreds in energy products in order to secure their Boston Qualifier. Obviously we all know the reality, but what Powerbar is hoping is that THEY don't. |

Dont think he cheated this time...but what he did do is cement the idea that there is NO way based on this performance and prior 100's DNFs that he could EVER have made that 202 miler without serious Winnebago riding. He erased all doubt, actually. NO. WAY. And Powerbar actually sends this guy product? Morons. |

What was his time for the 202 miler run/ride? |

Powerbar does not really care about how fast one runs. It's all about promotion and sadly with the help of letsrun, people know who this Dane guy is and people are now going to go to the Powerbar website and check it out. Any publicity is good publicity, right? |

http://danerunsalot.blogspot.com/2012/03/graveyard-100-recap.html Thanks Dane for telling us you used the Outer Banks as your personal toilet. Since you admit to purposely violating race rules, will you DQ yourself? I really liked the part where you were getting race updates each mile by your 'helper'. That's cheating by the way. I liked how you also admitted taking aid from your car whenever you felt like it. More cheating. I really liked the part where you described being oversupplied with PowerBar but how you were having all sorts of GI issues. Duh. Why would a company give product to a clown who does not know how to use it? Or have the ability to put together a complete and property spelled sentence? |
