New Balance Nationals indoors March 2012 Friday 3/09/2012 Distance Medley Mile spilt 4:07.5 Saturday 3/10/2012 Sprint Medley Edward Cheserek 800m spilt 1:51.27 Sunday 3/11/2012 3200m 8:50.53 winning by over 9 seconds 3 Golds with the mile to follow in less then an 1 1/2 hours. If he wins the mile this will be the greatest indoor performance ever by a high school athlete! |

As well as Verzbicas' 14:06, 8:40, 4:10 triple last year |

The 8:40.0 high school national record doesn't compare to Cheserek's 1:51.2/4:07.5/8:50.53! Only Lucas triple is better then Cheserek first three races and if Cheserek wins the mile then in my opinon it's the best peformance by a high school athlete ever especially if Edward runs sub 4:10! |

the feld is weaker this year than last year. Lukas had Cheserek and the clock pushing him Cheserek is a head and shoulders above his competition |

Quest for perfection ended as Cheserek ran 4:09.07 to Brad Nye's 4:08.67. Cheserek kicked hard in all three of his previous races this weekend, but couldn't quite kick hard enough this time. Can't help but think that if Cheserek hadn't wasted a lot of energy running a 30.6 last lap in his 2 mile (when the 8:40 record was already far out of reach and he was in the lead by more than a straightaway), he may have been able to do it in the mile. I just didn't see why he couldn't have just hit like 33 or something for the last lap in the 2 mile. |

Running 4 really good high school times, but zero great ones does not touch Lucas last year. |

Agreed. AND last year Lukas only had 90 minutes between the 2 mile and mile. Looks like this year they had about 4 hours. |

Uhm, no, that comes nowhere near the Lukas V. triple, even if he went sub 4 to win the mile. |

german fernandez 2008 state meet: 4:00/8:34 with about two hours rest...[/quote] Your removed (indoor) from the quote, unless Vipam is a moderator and edited his post to fix that later. Anyway, German's double not that great, maybe one of the all time high school work outs, but not anywhere near Webb's 3:53, Ryun's 3:55, LV's triple, Rupp's 13:37, the high school 800m record, Ritz's bronze at World XC Jrs., etc, etc. |

Bullshit. Yes it's hard to compare doubles to single performances but Germans double was as good as all those u list, except maybe Ryun if u consider the era I guarantee u this: not one of the guys you list could have run that double by themselves with 2 hours break like German did that day. Guaranfntee it. |

Except that Lindgren ran 50 years ago... I'd say his is the best performance, given that no one was running even close to that fast when he ran. Cheserek is chasing the legacies of Lukas V, Webb, Ritz, etc, etc, etc, etc... |
| Twitched |

You don't think that Webb could have completed that double? |

And plus, I would argue that German's double is better than LV's triple. His 4:00/8:34 convert to around 4:01/8:37, faster than LV's 4:10/8:40. Plus he ran it solo. LV had people to push him. |
