Is a runner really allowed to swing 4 lanes wide off the final turn with the sole intention of trying to block a challenger from behind? In all my years in this sport I've never seen such a move and thought for sure Preeble/A&M should have been disqualified for that move. Officials out there please set me straight. Thanks! |

Why did they get 4 points on the NCAA results website then? |

Preble had both legs in lane 4 at the end of his 50 meter block. Ballsy move, but no-brainer call on the DQ. Didn't Arkansas get DQ'd from a win in the DMR in the early/mid '00's for something similar? Arkansas guy took Michigan's Brannen way out on the final straight and got the DQ. The King of Virtue, Johnny Mac, was livid. That one was even worse. |

NCAA Rule 5, Section 5, Article 3 part b: The referee, after consulting with the appropriate officials, shall disqualify a competitor who: b. Veers to the right or to the left so as to impede a challenging runner or forces the challenging runner to run a greater distance Doesnt necessarily have to impede if it appears the intention to impede is there. |
