Maybe not ANY years in the 5000. Derrick just ran 7:46. Rupp ran 7:57 in Albuquerque. I see the NCAA altitude adjustment difference between Albuquerque and Billings MT (3100' compared to 2800' at Boise) as 8 seconds. Now Rupp used lousy strategy in Albuquerque and would have been closer if he sat on Lagat like Derrick did with Lalang. Derrick's last: 800: 2:06 400: 56 200: 27! He lost by 0.17. He was sitting there in perfect position to strike, but just couldn't seal the deal. |
