Haven't heard much about him recently and I'm wondering if he is injured or something...? |

had surgery to reattach some ligaments in his hamstring last fall. Back running and hopes to race at Stanford in April if all goes well. |

CS is the man. He is one of the best 10k runners literally and figuratively. I hope he comes back strong. |
| how do ya figure? |
| ||
Wait, hasn't he only finished.....one 10k? One? And he's literally and figuratively one of the best 10k runners? Did I miss a whole bunch of 10ks that he rocked out? |
| not very smart i take it |

|
damn dude u don't get it... "one" of the best 10k runners.... smh |

In what way is he "figuratively" at 10k runner? |
| ggg |

in an abstract sense of it. |

In what way is he "figuratively" at 10k runner?[/quote] He ran sub 27. Isn't that good enough for you? |

I took the sub-27 run literally! Silly me. |

He ran one sub 27 in early 2010. I think its a reasonable expectation that to be one of the best 10K runners you show up at a starting line for a 10K and run the race a little more than once in your life. I'm not criticizing CS. He's a great runner. Just saying you take him for what he has done. Its like saying Derek Jeter is a great second baseman.

I would think CS is now thinking maybe I should have finished that 10km at Stanford last year and got a qualifier, instead of playing rabbit. Granted, the way he looked when he stopped at 5k, he might not have gt a qualifying time. He still need to hit the Olympic Standard does he not? |
| Linsanity |
| ||
Take it easy on him. He's in high school and does not know how to write correctly. |
| SOLINSKYINTHEOLYMPICS |

If Solinsky was talented enough to run sub 27 his very first 10k im predicting him in the olympic squad along with ritz lagat and tangeman. No rupp. |
| Olympic Qualifying |
| ||
so what are Tangeman's PR's and race results? This dude must be flying under the radar. I have never heard of him, but he is in the hunt for an Olympic spot? |

"Haven't heard much about him recently" Consider yourself lucky. HE........IS........Solinskrap. |

Even though he's only completed ONE 10k, he still is the SECOND fastest American to run the distance... Yeah I'd say he's one of America's best 10k runners. |
| Twitched |
| ||
One of the best Americans? Sure But the guy earlier in this thread didn't limit it to Americans. I think that is what everyone here is disagreeing on. Sub 27 doesn't make you one of the best in the world. And it wasn't his first 10k. He ran xc for 4 years. |

It seems that we're wasting a valuable opportunity to teach our semantically challenged brethren the difference between 'literally' and 'figuratively'. Just to clarify, if something is 'literally' true, it has no need to be 'figuratively' true. Also, there is no way to be 'figuratively' the best, because 'the best' does not evoke any 'figure'. It's an assessment of fact. It either is true or isn't. Voilą. You're welcome.
