How is this disturbing at all? The woman was involved in a hit and run and then attempted to escape from the officer. She deserved to be tazed and the unfortunate consequence is that she hit her head on the ground. Lesson: don't run from police. |

Looks like excessive force to me, and tasing someone in the spine is like tasing them in the brain. Plus, the lack of humane treatment after she fell to the ground. Wow, I can't believe someone on here is supporting the actions of the pig. |

borrowing this from the comment's section of another site, but I think this sums it up well: 30 year lawyer: “1. Cops believe no one who is handcuffed has a life worth more than a dirty uniform.” Unfortunately, there is a lot of truth in this statement. Seeing people as the “other,” the “outsider” or the “apostate” has terrible consequences. Intoxicated people often fail to appreciate the gravity of an arrest situation initially. This is especially true of people who have been drinking, but it can apply to other intoxicated people. This delayed reaction can cause people to panic and/or get aggressive after the fact. Sometimes it's when they feel the cuffs go on. Sometimes it is later. FHP personnel should be familiar with this phenomenon and should have watched this woman more closely from the second they took her into custody. But it didn’t work out that way and she ran. And the closest trooper–who was much larger and, presumably, has received some defensive tactics training–could not stop her without using an electronic weapon. I call bullsh*t, to say the least. He could have stopped her for sure. I have brought down more threatening people while working as a hospital security officer–some of them have been fleeing–and this trooper outweighs me by nearly 100 pounds! This was about teaching someone a lesson. This was about lack of empathy for a fellow human being. Yes, this girl apparently made a mistake. She was irresponsible. But she did not deserve a coma as punishment for her irresponsibility. The trooper made a mistake somewhat similar to the girl’s error, in that he did not consider the impact of his actions on other people. He just did what he thought was most expedient. He is lost, confused and full of himself. He views the world as his enemy rather than seeing how we are connected to each other. And now he has permanently harmed another being, not to mention her family and friends. And he has harmed the citizens he is supposed to be working for. And he has harmed his fellow police officers. He has set off an ugly chain of events, and for what. To satisfy his ego. We all do ugly things to satisfy our egos. But this is what happens when our inflated egos blind us to the humanity of others. |

How did she go brain dead when she was still talking for about a min. after being tasered? Did she go into shock, which led to the coma? Regardless, her head smacking the pavement was a nasty sound. Doesn't surprise me at all that this was in FL, but then again after all the disgusting police behavior in Colorado over the past year, there is nothing a cop could do that would surprise me these days. |

He tasered a criminal who was fleeing once, she then fell and hit her own head on the ground. The way you phrased it, "tasered woman till she braindead," implies he repeatedly tasered her; showing your liberal/criminal bias, and lack of ability to think and communicate in English. |

I thought the whole idea behind tasers was that they would be used instead of guns. They were supposed to save lives because they would be used in situations were cops would otherwise be forced to shoot the suspect. I guess now they're being used in place of running 6 steps. |
