MT110 seems to be my best bet but I like opinions.

Merrill Trail Glove: Heel 10mm, Forefoot 10mm.

NB MT110: Heel 18mm, Forefoot 14mm.

The Merrills have a "rock plate" in the forefoot that helps with the rocks.

I didn't know the TG had a rock plate and that's something I'm buying into after having the MT10 bruise my feet. Thanks guys.

New Balance MT110 and the new MT1010 both have full forefoot rockplates too.

The MT10 didn't bruise your feet...

Inov-8s are light, low-heeled, and have a whole spectrum to choose from.

I like the MT110 alot but despite the rockplate there's not a whole lot of protection if you are going hard down rocky hills and so forth. They're very comfortable, however, and good race shoes and good for dirt and grass.

For regular long trail runs on rocky trails, I prefer the Saucony Peregrines, which are fairly light, low drop, and have enough cushioning that my feet don't feel beat up the next day from running on rocky stuff. For a trail race, I would wear the MT110's and put up with the soreness afterwards.

Saucony is coming out with a Kinvara for the trails sometime in the near future. I imagine it will be pretty solid if you've been a fan of the kinvara's so far.
