A popular nickname for absinthe is "the green fairy". If you are an Oregon runner I'd say absinthe is the drink for you! But seriously, it's just another kind of liquor, and the Ducks are a great team, and there is nothing wrong with being a fairy. |

Absinthe is my favorite kind of liquor. The real stuff (kinda) from other countries not the stuff they sell here in the states. You won't hallucinate, get high or any of that crap but it is a very different kind of drunk for me. All liquors are that way though. |

It's a spirit not a liqueur. And don't try to sound all fancy by drinking the stuff from overseas...it's all the same crap. It's just trendy. All the myths associated with it are just exaggerations, although it can be high in alcohol content. |

The hallucinating thing dumb but you can get messed up on that stuff due to the high alcohol content. I've always found it really easy to drink though. Oddly, it doesn't seem to make me hungover. No idea why. |

Well, most posters on here practice both. What? Oh, that said absinthe. I thought it said abstinence. |

No, there are two distinct kinds of absinthe. Until recently, you could not get real absinthe in the States. Now, absinthe with wormwood and thujone is sold in the States, but the majority are still imitations. Here is the deal with the hallucinations. It was never due to the absinthe. Many of the "makers" of absinthe in the 1800's were just local folks who would experiment with cheaper alternatives to the traditional ingredients. Some were poisonous adulterants that would eff people up. I had some absinthe over Christmas and it is actually quite good. It can be mixed with Gin and lime juice for a nice cocktail. |
