It's time to start thinking about the Patriot League Indoor Championships. Last year Navy pulled off the upset and took down perennial powerhouse Army. Can they do it again? We could probably use that intro again next year.

My Predictions:
Navy wins Army second Bucknell third. After that I have no idea, and neither do you.

Bucknell looks good in the 60H and the shot put.
Navy looks nasty in the middle d and d as usual. Anyone know whats up with Rome?

Chris Johnson from Colgate had a great cross season. Was it a fluke or can he continue his winning ways in indoor? His biggest fans this year are going to be Army and Bucknell. If he can sneak in for a couple wins in the distance events knocking down the Navy guys that will make their jobs much easier.

P.S. Bucknell sprinter Christian Lupica could outscore a few teams as a freshman.

What story lines am I missing?

We'll know a lot more after the meets this weekend. Does anyone know where everyone will be competing?

Whats up with American? They havent really posted any significant times yet and its only 3 weeks out from PLC. This should probably be a big weekend for them. Also Navy looks much weaker in the mid distance and distance events this year, their times are way slower than previous years so either they aren't as good or they finally realized they always completely shit the bed in outdoor and there is no point in peaking in mid january

Chris Sacks has officially severed all ties with the Bucknell Track and Field team and will not be competing at the Patriot League Indoor Championships or any Patriot League event in the future.

Army is at the Armory. Bucknell is home/@ Penn State. Navy is home. American is at George Mason. Lehigh is home against Lafayette. Holy Cross was at the Reggie Lewis center. (where they had pretty much everyone on their team run 1:57 and had a couple good performances in the sprints) Colgate is home.
you are a leaker butt

I doubt it unless his gpa is too low and daddy says he's not allowed to play track anymore.

Notable performances this weekend. Jerome Rudolph running 6.89 in the 60 looking like the next Kyle Clayton for Lafayette. Rome was back and ran well in the 5k. He can pick and choose which events he wants to win this year. I bet he runs a fast mile in the next two weeks so look for him in that at the PLC as well. Johnson ran well in the 1000, 2:26 is no joke for a guy that came in 3rd in the 10k outdoors last year. Maybe he's looking to avoid Rome's events and sneak in somewhere shorter for a win.

Yes it was a fluke.

He won the conference by 20 seconds, qualified for NCAAs as an individual. In track, he leads the league in the 1k, and has qualified for IC4As in the 1000,mile,3000,5000 and 10000.

We'll see. Cross was a long time ago from a training perspective and that Patriot League Championship that he won wasn't exactly under normal circumstances. At the end of the day Rome has some pretty amazing pr's (sub 8 3k ) and Johnson has been on a tear I'd love to see them race each other again on Feb 18th.

No scandal here. He just didn't like running competitively. Go figure...

On the other hand, that'll definitely hurt any chance the Bucknell men have. It'll still probably be a great team battle up front with some big matchups in the distances. I would love to see Rome and Johnson go after it in a 3k or something. Time's a tickin.

Wow so a kid that's run 1:50, won two league titles (one in the 1000 by over 2 seconds), and is currently the leagues top miler just decided...eh I dont want to do this competitively? That's crazy!

P.S. if Rome and Johnson do race in the 3k that's going to be a brutal race at the end of the meet. The deranged sociopath in me wants to see that war though.

They won't race at Patriots. They'll both be looking to win "easy". Look for one in the mile and the other in the 1000. I wouldnt be surprised to see Johnson do 1k, 5k and Rome do 3K, mile. They are clearly the class of the league. No offense to Kosgei or anyone else. It would be great to see these guys go at it though, no question.

Rob Arent went 48.3 this weekend and he has the second fastest time in the league in the 60H, and all you people talk about is Rome and the distance runners. Field event people shut it no one cares, but there are sprint fans coming to letsrun too. There are some sprint performances in the Patriot League that are way better than the distance performances. Sprinters lets talk it up Arent in the 400 Jerome going 6.8 in the 60 can anyone beat them?

Here are my meaningless predictions as of today:

Bucknell- Will be tight with Navy for the win. Interestingly, they don't match up in strengths at all. Arent and Lupica look solid in the sprints, mid D is solid with Donaldson and Sacks (losing him would make it a toss up). Its the throws that will do it for them. Look for them to score huge in them.

Navy- Really strong mid D and distance, but can pick also pick up important points in the 400,500 and 800. Decent in the field events. Great PV'er. If American's guys falter, Navy can pick up more points and beat Bucknell

Army- Lost to Navy at their dual meet, which may be more important than Patiots to them. Chris Jones is always good. Wagner has been high jumping for what seems like decades.

Lehigh- Will be battling Lafayette for 4th. Not much in terms of scoring in the running events. But will win the TJ, score big in the LJ, and always have heptathletes. Kosgei can come up big here. Needs to count his laps better than last year.

Lafayette- Like Lehigh but may score small points in the sprints. If Parker wins the 800, could jump above them. Just slightly worse in the field.

Colgate- Interesting case. Have 2 (maybe 3) guys capable of scoring, everyone else is way off. But if the get a win or 2nd from Tooker in the 200 and 400 and Johnson is able to pick up a couple top two finishes, they can score more than usual. Could potentially have a decent DMR. Points in the 500 would be a nice addition. The definition of having all their eggs in one basket.

American- They are buried so deep only because they are going against Navy's incredible strength in all their events. If they can work as a team and break up Navy, I can see them finishing 6th. Anything higher than that will be tough, saying they only will compete in a handful of events.

Holy Cross- Actually a better team than usual. Fenner will likely score in a sprint. They have guys at 50/106/157, but thats just not quite good enough. It'd take a lot to beat anyone.

You heard it here first: Holy Cross will medal in the 4x8. I can't believe I am saying this, but I think it will happen.

American won't go down that far, Colgate lost most of their relay guys the last couple years, sacks seems to be out for Bucknell, and these dudes are actually running well.

Good to see, good for the conference.
