In 2012, I am thinking about running a sub 5 minute mile every day for 1 year. Preferably in the middle of my daily run. I know this has been done before. Anybody want to join me? We can start a thread for it. I am going to record it on my Garmin for verification. 1 mile PR- 4:12 10 mile PR- 53:20 |

Out of curiosity, why? |

Just one of those illogical challenges. I will never run Badwater, but this seems about as challenging. |

It's an interesting goal, but I think in general, more people would be impressed if you ran one sub-4 mile instead of 365 sub-5 miles. |

I know someone was trying to do it last year about this time out east I think. I followed their blog for awhile but then kinda lost track. Tried to find it a couple months ago but couldn't find it. I'm assuming they effed up |

seems kind of selfish, if you ask me. Why don't you assist in a food shelter program, or help the needy? Sounds like a personal waste of time. |

i bet you wont be able to do it. you might be able to get 360/365 of the days. what happens when you are sick or injured. i assume it snows in kansas in the winter and there can be some nasty rain/wind in the summer. good luck if you actually try to do it |

I considered trying this for a month once, and made it about nine days before realizing I wouldn't be able to run the half-marathon I was planning without messing up the race. I did it at the end of my runs and on teh same stretch of road. |

. . . and I support this idea. I'd do it, too, but the problem is 1 mile PR-5:15 10 mile PR-1:04:28 |

Go for it!! In 1976 Feb 29th was on Sun. I heard of a guy who said he would surf every day until Feb 29th was on a Sun. again in 2004. 28 years and he did it!! Sub 5 every day for a year? Yes, that's a good goal. JUST DO IT!! |

Do it on a treadmill and just set the speed to 12.1 mph. That is the easiest way to go, an it's mindless. You don't fail unless you can't stay on the treadmill. |

I have almost identical PR's to the OP (3:52 1500m) and it seems like this challenge would be incredibly easy if you actually committed to it. Running a 4:58 is not very hard if that is the most difficult thing you need to do each day. |

Why are you on Letsrun? Arent you selfishly wasting time commenting on needless things when you could assist a food shelter program, or help the needy? :D |

It will take less than five minutes a day! |
