Maybe we should put him on the 4x400 anchor for the Ducks next year and see what he can do!

That's with him going around/weaving through a few runners.

He was actually gaining on Kiplagat right at the end. 10 more meters in the race and he may have stolen silver.

The irony is that I doubt he could run much under 3:34 right now. But closing well and running smart goes a hell of a long ways in championship racing.

I'm going to guess he's a 3:31-3:32 runner on a great day right now. I also think he's likely to turn pro and give up the rest of his eligibility. No sense in wasting time with the NCAA now, considering 2012 is an Olympic year.

agreed on the 3:31/2, which he'll have a chance to run at Zurich (they take most of the finals field, right?), but I don't know if athletes who are the sons of college coaches, with long standing connections to the program necessarily turn pro early. However, he could certainly do it now, he would have opportunities, and maybe he'll essentially have to do it because he won't want to compete in the college season in an Olympic year and he probably already used his redshirt when he was injured. Wheating didn't go pro early, but then he didn't get to fly back from wc with a medal around his neck.

He had an exceptional year. One that no one could have predicted back in April. The key here is the guy knows how to race, not just run fast. AND, he has one helluva kick. You combine a racer with a great kick and you have a medal contender every time. Congrats to Centro! He's doing what the others guys couldn't do.
