Almost positive St. Lawrence is not in marathon training. You're thinking of Collis Birmingham, surely?

Teg's got a way to go, but that's a nice step up from the 13:25 he did last year before ending his year. Good starting point for him.

Solinsky might be in close to pr shape. Lagat is just that good still.

That's 11 seconds better than anything Mottram has run since 2008...so while obviously not neccesarily encouraging yet, it's a hell of a lot better than his last two years which must have been hell. He's headed in the right direction at least.

Decent run for Nelson...just under 8 seconds off his pr, but for March not too shabby.
Predictions?

Any guesses what times they'll have by end of the season?

Definitely sub 13 for Lagat and Solinsky, Teg too most likely given his progression from the outdoor season. St. Lawrence may be able to dip under 13 in a fast race too. Bumbalough, I'll say below 13:10, but I'm not sure what his focus is for later in the season. If Mottram can get back to top fitness, I'm not sure what he could do given his lack of races over the past 2.5 years.

Lagat and Solinsky will likely go around 12:54 this year, if I had to guess. Unless Lagat has an off day, he will likely always have just enough to beat Solinsky.

I think Bumbi will continue to have enough to hang with Teg and possible outkick him in some races. I'm saying 13:08ish for both of them.

Not sure what Nelson's plans are, so I won't guess.

it was a great race. at the top of the straight it looked like st lawrence was half a chance of winning. terrific run from him. another ten metres and solinski would have come second.

now - to Lagat - what is his weekly mileage? does he really do only sixty miles per week?

During the video, the buffering is from the feed they got it from and not necessarily your connection.

Flotrack and Runnerspace (without commentary or jumping off the truck before the finish) are really giving us the ability to watch some great races, otherwise not shown on TV in the States.

It was filmed by Athletics Australia, not Flotrack - and originally posted on runnerstribe.com.

For anyone there...

Teg loses contact woith about 400 to go. It looks like he runs about a 64 last 400. Did he "shut it down" once he knew wasn't in it anymore? I wonder if he played it safe the last 300 to make sure he didn't blow up but still get the standard, or whether he was maxed that last 400.

I was there. Must admit I was focusing on Lagat/StL/Solinksy in the last 200m, but at the finish it didn't look like Teg was cruising. They had a bit of a headwind coming round the last bend and in the home straight, so not a great place to finish hard if you're out on your own.

Solinsky ran a great race, because he sacrificed his own race to push the pace 1k out, to make sure they got the A-qual. Much respect.

Lagat - what a runner. He had two more gears left if he needed them. Stuck around and signed autographs for the kids, etc. Terrific guy.

Re StL, very interesting story. Great junior, left the sport at 21 to drink and party and get fat. Came back at 25 four years ago, and is now starting to see just how good he can be.

He's a 'young' 29, so expect him to improve for a couple more years yet.

oh, and Rudisha ran the easiest sub-1.44 I've ever seen live. Beautiful to watch.

Anyone know what was up with Isaac Songok? Is he coming off an injury or was this perhaps a workout/race thing? He's run 12:48 and his result here was 50 seconds slower.
