I think I discovered something in the recently run junior men's 10k. When looking through the pictures and results I noticed the third place finisher 3 566 Paul Klpthumba LONYANGATA KEN 12 DEC 92 28:14.55 P8. I also saw the pictures of him found here at this link http://www.letsrun.com/photos/2010/juniors0720pm/imagepages/image1.php and new I recognized paul lonyangata. I raced Nike Team Nationals in 2006 in the open race against the kenyans. My name is Peter and I ran for tbird xc club. I remember racing Paul who was then said to be a 16 year old at the time...here's a link from dyestat.com about the article, results, and a picture of paul lonyangata. http://archive.dyestat.com//?pg=us2006NikeTeamNationalsKenyanarticle The caption below says paul is 16 years old and trying to earn a qualifying birth in the 2007 cross country world championships. And if you look at the results from this years world junior championships it says his birthday is december of 92, which means he would only be 17 years old, going on 18. There's a flaw there. That would make him 14 in 2006 wouldn't it and not 16? So does this mean that paul is really 19 or even 20 depending on the correct month of his birth? I guess if his birthday truly is december of 92 then he does qualify to be eligible, but if not then he's not eligible. Here's the site for qualifying procedures due to age... http://www.usatf.org/events/2010/IAAFWorldJuniorChampionships/athleteInfo/selectionProcedures.asp Either way he's still lying about his age which seems really fishy to me. Not sure if dyestat messed up on their research or if he did lie about his age but I noticed this and thought I should let you know. Interesting, I found the same age problem with the winner, Dennis Masai. http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=3631712 Apparently no one on this message board that usually complains how old the Kenyan juniors are cares. |

That would make him 13 at the time of the NTN in 2006 since it was December 9th at the time. I think it is time to punish Kenya for their constant use of overage athletes at these championships. |

How much pleasure do these twenty-odd year old Kenyans get from winning these races? |

I wonder that you bother with it. Twenty-five years old Kenyans competing as "juniors" are a notoriously known thing. Junior championships are an utter farce; nobody can take it seriously anymore. |

Serious stuff! This is just unacceptable. I hope AK does something about it and very soon. The guy also needs to lose his medal, then get punished by both the IAAF and AK. I was reading Gebretsadik Abraha's post race comments (the Ethiopian runner who finished second) and I can't but feel for him. These two guys ganged up against him and the fact that one guy was over age must make him feel cheated. ========================================================== "....Abraha said: "The race was very competitive. Because I was alone with the two Kenyans, I couldn’t do any better. There was also some pushing, but I did my best and I thank God. "Once three of us remained, I knew I was running for second place, especially when I got stitches with six laps to go. "They were trying to drop me and second place is a great honour for me." AK are in on it as are the agents. The people who need to take control are the IAAF. The 2 Kenyans who competed over 10,000m have been shown in Internet articles to be over age. It's pathetic to think nothing will be done about this. Youth and junior competitions are flawed and should not exist with these cheating nations. |

To the best of my knowledge Nic, Linet Masai is 20 or 21 which makes it plausible that Dennis is a teenager. Of course Dennis is younger. |

What are the odds that when Linet Masai was cleaning up in the junior events that she wasn't about 22 herself? A lot of these athletes and agents have absolutely no problem with cheating, in any way possible. |

The 15 year old is a sophomore, while Paul the freshman is 16? Sounds a little old to be a freshman. From the dyestat article:

There have been a lot of well known Kenyan athletes who come to light as Jrs, run incredible times and seem to peek with in 3 years, which suggest they may have been in their mid-20 when competing as Jrs. I have been told that agents have more to do with this than athletes themselves. |

Maybe he lied about being older than he actually was for NTN. Isn't it plausable that NTN limits the Kenyan team to kids of comparable ages, perhaps in the 16-18 yr old age bracket? |

Pleasure has nothing to do with it. It is all about the Benjamins. |

Where is the pleasure in ensuring a good livelihood at an early age for you and your family? This is the Dark Side of the famed "motivation edge" that Africans enjoy.

Send the evidence over to IAAF. See what happens. Or email to Parker Stinson and USATF. |

Can the Brojos create some waves on the front page?? How 'bout it Brojos?? Stinson is on the front page and this could certainly get some legs. |

How much cash to they earn from World Juniors? This is nothing to do with the athletes, this is all about national pride and dominating rivals. Just cynical cheating really. You can almost understand it if there was big money involved. |

Bump...I am so tired of these things coming to light, and nothing being done about them. |
