Jordan Hasay 5000m debut : what you expected or not? 4/11/2010 4:03PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
She barely broke sub 16:20 and in regards to what I and many others thought she was capable of is a huge disappointment! There are at least 2-3 American high school girls who could train for the 5000m and solo to that time.

I remember a few months back when posters was saying the AJR was hers for the taking in her debut and one or two mention sub 15:20. I'm sure Jordan Hasay will run faster in the future but do you honestly think the AJR is hers for the taking now?
I do run run run

SHE WON THE RACE!
Obviously it wasnt a great day for distance times as you can see throughout, and the race wasnt pushed to a super fast pace. This meet was also about team scores, and how Oregon would stack up against A&M at Nationals possibly. It wasnt a big invite, and there were team points in winning, she got her first outdoor 5K in the can with a win, sounds like a great day for Jordan Hasay.
It is ignorant to say this is a huge disappointment, and then question whether she is capable of breaking the AJR. She is definitely capable of the AJR, but this kind of talk about being hugely disappointed is insulting and premature.
She is having a great season, and a great overall year with XC, Indoor and now outdoor.
Stop being cup is half empty here.

It was the equivalent of dipping her toe in the water and based on the accounts she was pretty much running solo.

Good time trial so no disappointment whatsoever...

Steph Twell ran a 71 minute half the other day as a training run.

Just sayin.

Jordan Hasay and Nicole Blood will be running the 5K again this Friday at the Mt. Sac relays against some formidable opponents. Let's see how she does where many of the runners should be well under 15 minutes.

Jennifer Bergman, a freshman from Arizona, who was no where near Hassay last year in HS ran 16:33 at Stanford. I would expect Hassay 15:45 based off of that. She is not fulfilling expectations. But when you run that fast in HS most don't improve much. Vin should have known better!

I hope none of you are serious. I guess I'm taking the bait. but if you think that was all out, you're crazy. if anything I think it shows how smart vin is. it got her debut under her belt, and, hopefully, showed her how easy 16:16 is for her. so when the real race comes in one week at mt sac she has the balls to go 15:30s. no way she was going all out with mt sac
in a week.

I'm not saying she was going all out but learn to read concerning the race before posting. From the lips of Jordan Hasay "it was tougher than I expected". So while she was totally grinding, she also wasn't taking a Sunday stroll. There are several College freshman and High Schooler's who could have done the same thing in their 5000m debut.

I just find it amusing how regardless of the outcome Jordan can do no wrong or draws little criticsim even in a critic. Look how little was said about the one college freshman who beat her at NCAA X-Country Championships. How many times Jordan bypass World Junior teams and still she's put on pedestal while other girls her age or younger do just about the same thing and respresent their country at every opportunity. Oh wait I'm getting off track LOL.

Jordan Hasay 5000m debut was a slight disappointment in many eyes!

She was not. And you, among others, give far too much attention to this athlete. It's borderline creepy.

You don't know what a typo is. Missing three consecutive keystrokes indicates mental error, not typographical mistake.

LOL, Jordan ran the first 5k of the 8k at the NCAA XC championships in 16:30. AND THAT WAS HER WORST RACE OF THE SEASON.

I'm pretty sure she can drop a minute+ off her time on a track for a 5k.

Forget Jordan Hasay she was so yesterday, the runner of the future is Chelsey S from Texas. She will destroy all of Jordan Hasay records and soon make Jordan WhoUsay a thought of the past!

Your remark was totally uncalled for and rather racist. What does beinb black have to do with the subject. Chelsey is running times equal to what Jordan did her Soph and Junior year the reason her named was mentioned as the heir apparent to Jordan.

She lose one race in which she missed time her kick and ran out of gas the last 50m and you think she is washed up? LOL Get a clue, A.I. Magoo!

What is actually amazing his how your visiting this website has so skewed your world view to petty negativity.

The videos on the web do not show it; but she was fighting the wind, solo, two thirds of the race.

She did what she needed to do, she won the race, dipped her toe in. No reason to criticize her effort.

She, as with all of the athletes, will write their own story over the course of their career -- not by the cry baby comments of the jealous and petty anonymous numskulls on this board...like yourself.

Do you really want to create a world where people crap on a tiny 19 year old girl who is working her butt off to excel in a sport she loves?

Sucks to be you.

Save the drama for your .....! You mean as long as the person thats being talked about in a negative manner is white then something must be wrong with the poster. I see something was said about Chelsey and numerous other non Caucasin athlete and you nor many other jump to their defense. Stupidity at its finest!
