I know that they have it down to a few finalists now, but I do not know who they are. Although I do know that they have some very high caliber options.

I do not know the names, I was just told from a source that they are quality candidates. I also asked for the names but couldn't get him to budge.

TBB is for sure on that list, combining the programs. Gary and Harvey are not happening.

Guenther could'nt afford a Robert Gary. And besides, Rob would'nt put up with a program that's not comitted to excellence. He should stay where he is. Gene appreciates him at OSU. Illinois is a GRAVE YARD!!!!!, Illinois is not about winning, they are about existing. Just take a look at the number of sub par programs that they have. It's truly a reflection of thier leadership. Illinois will never be able to hire a serious big name coach. At best they will hire a Mid Major guy. Good odds in Vegas on this one.
Thier only true hope would have been Clayton, but they burned that bridge. They could'nt get Clayton now if thier life depended on it. ILLINOIS, mediocrity be thy name. Guenther should do the Big Ten a favor and let things remain they way they are. less competition and a for sure door mat year in and year out. Or he could do the humane thing and put the program to sleep. Save some big bucks.

Coach LaBadie of Akron is an Illinois grad and IL guy. Could be a dark horse. He knows his running.

Martin Smith will be the next Head coach for the Illini. Big Ten beware, Martie will be back with a vengence.

OSU women were a surprise 2nd at conference so Dennis isnt going anywhere for asnother five years. Rob wants to be a director of a combined program. Maybe him and Tonja could be co-directors in Champaign?

Most coaches would leave for even a little more money!

Labadie's best shot would be to have his current head coach at Zips Dennis Mitchell, Labadie, and their throws coach apply as a package. They have had success at MAC and it'd be interetsing to see since Mitchell always claims his teams could be competitive in the Big 10!

However, all public accounts have Turk and Wendell continuing on. Would make sense Tonja would be director, but not sure she wants to. It's not like Illini women are a fixture in the top couple in the conference like they were with Winkler.

Not sure why Rob Gary would consider with OSU running well and Harvey definitely not unless current womens distance coach is leaving because he is geting it done.

I hope Buford becomes the director. One thing for sure, she is not Gary Winkler. Winkler has more brains in his
baby toe than Buford has in her entire brain. Good move to keep her distracted from her team. And of course the men stay at the bottom. No worries for the Big Ten.

Not Sure that Turke would want to work under another minority type. I'm sure he would want his own show, just like Obama.
