Oh yes, ladies and gentleman. Our American running hero German Fernandez is back with a respectable 7:51! Some might say this time is crap compared to last years, but he took some serious time off AND he is focusing on the mile and 800 this year! God bless our hero. |

Getting past that "first race" after a period of rough performances is always hard. This was pretty solid for him. He sat way back for the first 2400m. With a couple laps left he kind of made a move to get up there- it just happened to be right when leader took off. He just needs to stay healthy now! |

I wish he would have redshirted this indoor season. |

this is all part of the plan -- to run slower each year |

I predict he wins the indoor 3000 at NCAA's with an even slower time. Good plan! |

I doubt that German will win any more championships. He is running slower, and slower, and is getting beat regularly. When that doesn't happen, it is because he falls down or quits. It is a shame that he has made some of the running choices that he has. Proper advice early on and he could be achieving his potential, instead of going backwards and injured all the time. |

Which will be all the more crushing for you when he wins the 3000 indoor title. Yikes. |

I hope this is not a case of Hermon today, gone tomorrow. |

yes this is our plan! well it didn't work in cross country but darn it, german just didn't run slow enough! now he's finally catching on! |

It did work, remember? Smith and Oklahoma St won the national championships. German also won the 1500 meter championship. He's not just catching on, he's been in the know for a while. Next. |

This is all part of American running! We will always SUCK! and it is great to know that all of us American FANS always hope and pray that we will always stay that way! Jasop I like your thinking you know to hope and hope that we always fail and that no American runners ever achieve success WTG Bro. Keep up the great work. |

Yeah, a tough 5 months and you're pretty much finished. Just like Webb at Michigan, right? |

nice to see him running well again. if he's healthy through outdoors, we should see some impressive times. |

Definitely a good and promising race. Hopefully he can get back to the shape he was in last year and then some. He was seemingly invincible last year when he was on top of his game. 3:56(win), 7:47(win), USAxcJr(win), 3:55(win), NCAA 1500(win), 13:25 5k(not a win, but DAMN fast). About the only time he lost was when he was dealing with injuries or coming back from them, save for the USAs 5k, and to be running in the same race with guys like Solinsky and Teg at 18 years of age is a huge accomplishment itself (Jager is a super-talent as well). Who knows how things will play out. With a high profile school like OSU there will always be critics (rightfully so at times), but given German's rapid improvement his freshman year, I think we can expect him to do even greater things there (as long as he stays healthy of course). Good job, German. |

To be quite honest that 7:51 was pretty impressive in my eyes. He had two major surges during that race the last lap or so to get 4th place. |
