After getting such great responses in the King of Kong thread, I figured I'd open it up generally. So...what's your favorite documentary film? I've got several that I like a lot: Crumb - talk about dysfunction Hoop Dreams Super Size Me American Movie - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Movie Roger and Me Will likely see King of Kong this weekend. Got any others to recommend? Appreciate it! |

Every Runner should see 'The Great Dance: A Hunter's Story' The film is about the San bushmen who are the last remaining people to hunt by running. It is one of the most beautiful and respectful documentaries I've ever seen. |

This is Spinal Tap is my favorite movie of all time, but it isn't really a documentary of course. It is a "rockumentary". :) |

"Endurance" - docudrama about Haile Gebrselassie (shows in-depth how his early years helped him become the best runner of all time) |

Super Size Me and Roger and Me aren't documentaries either, Flagpole. They are 'crockumentaries." |

I'm more a fan of mockumentaries instead of actual, boring documentaries on some lame subject that actually happened. Spinal Tap is the all time best. Simple reasoning: there's a thin line between funny and stupid. Religulous is good, you know...if you're into that subject (which I am) And the new district 9 movie was sweet, even though its science fiction. |

This is one of the best documentaries ever, and Eroll Morris' best work by far. |

Right there with you on loving This is Spinal Tap, but it's not a documentary and therefore not for this thread. |

I get what you're saying there. I'm no fan of Michael Moore. Even though I'm a Democrat, he's a bit too far out there for me. I did like Roger and Me though. Pretty funny in parts. Even though I don't buy everything from the Super Size Me film, it had interesting parts...the people who collect McDonald's stuff, his rules about not super sizing unless asked, etc. |

Bigger, Stronger, Faster is very good (Surprised it hasn't been mentioned) Spirit of the Marathon (not great, but worth watching if you are a runner) On This is Spinal Tap my favorite is watching the commentary ont eh film. All done in character. |

I’ll second ‘Man on Wire.’ An incredible display of athleticism from P. Petit. In addition to all the planning and cunning. As athletes, we have to recognize his fitness, balance, and strength. Not to mention the HUGE set of balls he has. |
